Probably my next watch:

My dream watch:

With steel band
Have you looked at used pilot style watches on watch forums? You should be able to buy a cool automatic like the Seiko for under 1K. Plenty of manufacturers make similar watches and some time. Just a thought as the Breitling is up there in price.

One Breitling I'd recommend as soon as you can find one is a Quartz Navitimer. Has the look, just hair smaller and it's a Quartz. Always ready. Great price too, but are rising in value.

The first link is a 130 dollar seiko.

I would really love the breitling cosmonaut they had a few years ago.

yes, that is why I mentioned some other brands making advanced pilot watches somewhere in price between the seiko & breitling (closer to seiko side).

What brands? The only other I have seen are citizens, and nothing mechanical

Slightly related... anyone see the news stories about Sondland’s watch?

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/n...ment-testimony

https://www.gq.com/story/impeachment...ordon-sondland

Well, it’s not quite right watch- you can tell by the face layout but also to the sides of the crown. I’m nearly certain it’s actually this watch:
https://www.tourneau.com/watches/pre...-VBR00623.html

I emailed both authors but got no response. Maybe just sloppy, but it seems so obvious I have to wonder if it’s just a more sensational story at the higher price...

Graham tend to see big discounts once that model has been on the market for some time.

^^ Very cool ^^

Alpina has a cool line up watches and you don't see them much in the States.

Do they make a bracelet for that watch? Matching blue croc strap would be awesome with it.

Sadly, no but I kinda like the brown leather strap, which is really nice quality. I'm also looking at a dark brown rally strap. I just haven't decided between large holes or small. Problem is the 23mm lug width.

Hirsch is a popular brand for straps. Is it a deployment buckle? Some of the rubber straps are really fantastic and comfortable.

I believe Alpina a brand manufactured by Frederique Constant, right?

I checked out Hirsch but they don't have much in 23mm. I bookmarked them for future reference.

It's a pin buckle, but a nice one. It's reminds me of the buckle on a garrison belt; kind of an over-under arrangement. I usually replace pin buckles with deployment clasps or butterflies but I like this one.

I've read that FC acquired Alpina in 2002 but I don't know if they are made by them or if manufacture is separate. At any rate, the Alpina is currently keeping to about +1 s/d and the fit and finish is beautiful. I got an insanely good deal on it; only $820 (MSRP $2795) as a "Factory Recondition" but it came in the usual high end box with papers, etc. I don't think it was "reconditioned" per se, but I saw a review that showed the subdial hands on the wrong dials; the red hand on the running seconds instead of the 30 min. counter. What I suspect happened was that the factory accidentally installed them wrong and then had their authorized service centers swap them when retailers noticed it. I bought it from one of these centers on eBay (they have more). I never would have been able to afford it otherwise. What I like about it is the 70's style cushion case and that it's a mono-pusher; which is kind of unusual and hard to f*** up.

23mm is more uncommon than the even number sizes.

Good luck!
Some people pointed out to me that the review link doesn't work anymore. So, here is the updated one: https://thewatchsnob.net/best-watch-winder

Finally picked up this watch:

Also have a couple more on the way, I will post pictures when they get here.

Interestingly, while browsing around, I came across a Richard Mille that I actually like.

It doesn't say if it is a mens watch or womens, but even if it is a woman's watch, I would still wear it if it wasn't too small, and someone bought it for me. No prices are listed anywhere, but I'm pretty sure it is a case of if you have to ask, you can't afford it. I also am not sure I want to know.
