We woke up this morning to find our old dog had passed away in her sleep last night. Today has been a jumble of emotions from relief to sadness to questioning what I could have done differently to regret and loneliness. She was a smart, belligerent, well behaved, high maintenance, disciplined, part of our family we'll never forget. She was old, but this came as a little surprise, i guess I thought she would be around for sometime longer.

Sorry to hear this, Rob, dog lovers know that they are as much a part of the family as any human. May memories of her help you through this sad time.

So sorry Rob; had to do this last year right before Christmas and it was horrible. This year, I surprised my wife with a new puppy. Can never replace the ones before, but she loves this little one too now. Sorry for your loss.

I lost my retriever pal about 2 years ago now. I have not been able to bring myself to get another dog. They really do become part of the family. Condolences man.

Very sad to hear of your loss, brother. Nothing better than a trusted 4-legged companion. Absolutely breaks your heart. Remember the rainbow bridge.

So sorry for your loss. Life is short, for people and dogs, and so many people live without love or happiness so try to take some comfort in the fact that you gave your dog a good home and shared a bond that some people live an entire lifetime without experiencing.

You have our family's heartfelt condolences. It doesn't matter if it's a dog, cat, or any other four-legged friend, it's hard to loose whats become a beloved family member.
As my daughter said so eloquently last February (when I lost my baby boy Wizard - a very special little black kittie I had for only 13 short years) ...
"Sometimes, despite the love, caring and importance of your human family,
it's as if your whole heart hinges around one very special little fur person."
Remember the good times, and that your beloved puppy is truly in a better place, and will be waiting for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
