Okay, so I got my digital hygrometer from cbid the other day... only to find out its off by 8 degrees. That's redonkulous. Hopefully they'll let me return the darn thing, but in the mean time, are there any hygros that yoou guys recommend that I could pick up for less than $15? If its possible to find something I can callibrate at that price it'd be the bee's knees.

:-)

Hardly the most authoritative person on the matter, but it seems that most of the digital are equally liked

The Caliber III by Western, Hygroset II, and the Xikars seem to be the most common

20 on most, but the Caliber III's seem to be easier to find closer to 15

Hope that helps!

indeed. I had my eye on a Caliber III, but I just wanted some second/third/etc opinions.

Thanks!

I'm using the Hygroset II... after I calibrated it is is right on the nuts. They've apparently changed the design a bit because I read that it was difficult to calibrate because of a small dial. They've made the dial a lot bigger now because I didn't have any problem turning it. But I'm pretty new to all of these things so take it for what it's worth.

I use beads and stopped worrying about my hygrometers along time ago. They ran me ragged worrying about RH so I ordered beads and stopped worrying altogether.

I have beads as well and they're. Usually rock solid. I just like the hygrometer's reassurance.

I have a couple Xikars. They're about 1% off from eachother, but the temp is the same.

They helped resolve a ton of my problems.

I like the Hygroset hygrometers and I usually recommend those with my beads. They are pretty easy to calibrate and are pretty reliable.

Unfortunately, they are not an inexpensive hygrometer. I sell them on my website at break-even and when you factor in shipping they come in at about $22...
