Accessory Discussion / Reviews>Fridgador galore!...my path to a new humi
AdamC 08:09 PM 10-27-2008
So I finally got a little work done on my new fridgador, not the coveted Vino but it definitely is doing the job. It's a New Air AW-280E thermoelectric 28 bottle cooler. Got some 3/8" x 4" x 36" spanish cedar from Woodcraft and 4 trays are incoming from Tim (Mtmouse). Beads are courtesy of Scott (shilala).

Here it is empty last week

I was doing some work this weekend with the help of a buddy of my father's
Image

It was actually smoking from the friction

The idea for one shelf

Loaded in the shelves

Seasoned the wood 3 times with some boiling water which kind of over did it (put me up to 80%), but left it over night and now put in the beads from Scott and a fan to help circulate
Image

It's coming down to about 70% right now, and put in the boxes I have to see if that'll help settle it and lower the RH back to the proper 65% I'm looking for.

I can't wait to get the trays from Tim, then it'll be just about getting the right settings and enjoying the ceegars. :-)

The one I paid about 250% over on from CigarMasters in Boston? It lasted till I got home from massphatness's HERF. You guys blew it up and shattered it to splinters.

How many boards did you order? I am trying to figure out how much I need for shelving in mine. I was thinking about making 4 shelves with two boards per shelf but I like your idea of 3 boards per shelf with holes for circulation.

i ordered 6 boards to make 12 pieces (ended up being 1 board to 2 pieces because the width of my air-ador was 14 3/8"). I ended up screwing up a couple boards because I was originally trying to make slots instead, but it was too difficult to keep them clean and even. I was very happy to have the extra boards. And the little 7" extra pieces I had are going to hold up the feet and help line the bottom in the summer (in case the thing sweats).

Lookin good, Adam. That's the very same Frigidaire I use. 3 of them. :-)
You absolutely have to plug the drain and add a fan pointing at the evaporator plate in the back. The Oust fans won't touch it.
Drop me a pm and I'll make you a double 3 speed computer fan setup with guards. It'll work perfect. Molarman just got a Frigidaire, too. I made him one and it turned out simple and nice. :-)

Singles trays in from Tim (Mtmouse) this week. The RH is holding nicely at 65% right now...
