So I've never smoked a pipe and was wondering whats it like and how it tastes and how long it takes comparing to cigars.

It’s a whole different game. It takes time to learn how to pack a bowl and get the technique. Buy a cob and a tin for starters and give it a try. I like a few other botl here smoke both

A good tobacconist will steer you to something good. Small amounts of "house blends" are a great way to find what you like. I second the corncob pipe. They smoke fairly cool. They can show you how to load it. Get a cheap folding pipe tool. It's a big help.:-)

First started smoking one in high school, late '60s, and could never master the art. Have not seriously attempted since, despite several flirtations. Hope you have better success than I did.

Thanks I’ll look what they have I know they don’t have any house blends because they are more of a cigarette store then a tobacco store. They have a 10x10 walk in humidor for cigars and a glass case for bongs and bowls. And just some lady who knows nothing working there. One day I asked her how the flatheads were and she replied never smoked a handmade cigar but we got wood tip black n milds.

Chayse, do not take anymore advice from this woman. Clearly she cannot be trusted. :-)

Start with a Missouri Meerschaum (<$10) cob and an over the counter todacco like Carter Hall or Prince Albert. Starting here will allow you to get advice on just about every possible issue you may be having from an FOG.
