Paul Bush of Flatbed Cigars sent me a few of his Maduro Panacea topedos, the maduro wrapper is from Brazil, the filler is Dominican and Nicaraguan.
The wrapper is dark brown, toothy and smooth, the cigar is firm, solid and medium weight with perfect seams and a clean cutting cap.The pre light exam gives rich, spicy tobacco taste and sweet mature tobacco aromas, slightly dusty notes. At light up,I get a bold leathery taste, mature tobacco and pepper aromas, the draw is perfect, medium firm.
The first half produces firm tastes of fine leather,a rich tobacco sweetness,a dry slightly dusty finish, light cedar notes. The palate is slightly lingering, broad and pleasant.
The second half stays clean with leather and oaky notes, slightly coating on the palate, just a bit alkaline and dusty. The burn has stayed perfect to the nub,the ash is a pale gray and very fine and firm, you can stand the cigar up on it.
Flatbed Cigars can be very proud of this excellent offering, the construction is first rate, the flavor profile is interesting and very tasty, bold and full but not overpowering. The four I have tried were all very uniform in taste and construction.I would recommend this smoke.I will keep some for a few months,I think these will age well, and I look forward to trying them after a year or so .I rate this one 6.5 out of 10 strength,18 out of 20 overall....
