When you see, talk to or do business with someone wearing a baseball cap backwards;does it affect that persons credibility with you?

The reason I ask is it does with me,quite a bit. I might be being unfair but it's a pet peeve with me.

Disclaimer:this doesn't mean I don't like you if that's how you wear your hat :-)

I don't like the backwards hat thing, I wouldn't say it gives me a bad impression of anyone. To me, its a bit like saying people who wear black socks with sneakers make a bad impression...

Unless they are catching for a baseball team - yep. It makes about as much sense to me as wearing a pair of pants backwards..... (or down to your knees).

depending on the hat, i generally wear it like that. Course I'm not one for hats either unless I didn't have time to make myself presentable that day in which case I'll wear it backward or if i'm going to be in the sun, in which case I'll wear it forward

Personally, the only time I will wear a baseball cap backwards is when I am in the gym and the brim is getting in my way. I don't hold it against kids, but adults I will. If you are a 40 year old man, you should know better than to wear your hat in public that way. :-)

I'll ask them if they are a submarine captain or a baseball catcher. If you don't want a brim, get a beanie!

if it's concerning business then yes I hold it against them but then again I'm not a fan of wearing a baseball cap backwards, sideways or both at the same time. I learned at an early age that people are very quick to judge on appearance so it's best that you do and say things in the mannerisms that you want them to revere to get your point and personality across.

Wearing a hat backwards isn't an issue with me. It's the kids that buy the most obnoxious color hats (i.e. orange red sox hat with some funky art on it :-)) wear it sideways while leaving the tags on.

Yep, that's my view.
Sub Captain, Catcher, or Silent Bob. (He gets a bye). other than that, Fail. You look like an idiot, and if you are over the age of 18, you should know better.
That being said, go ahead. I will just make fun of you. Maybe I will put my pants on backwards to make you feel more at home.

Credibility in a business setting of any kind? NONE, Dave.

On the other hand, if it's Tom?

er....

Nice hat, Tom..........

NEVER wear a baseball hat in a business setting...unless you're meeting at a baseball game. LOL

Backwards doesn't bother me...cocked off to the side does, however. It just makes the person look like a clown, no matter what their age is.

I wear my hat backwards at least half the time.....maybe more if we take visors out of the equation, which are always worn brim forward. Never thought much about it.... I am no youngster either....

Hat in a business setting?

Of course people are going to judge me on my appearance, I am okay with it. I judge all the time, including the hat half cocked, the tag/sticker left on ect...

I wear my fitted hats backward all the time, but not in a business setting (don't wear hats at all then). I don't wear a hat backwards at baseball practice either. When I'm out and about town or wherever, if I have a hat on, there's a 50/50 chance that it's on backwards. I've been doing it that way since Griffey Jr. made it fashionable.

My opinion? It looks silly most of the time.
Doing business with someone wearing a cap backwards? In the industry Im involved in, wearing ANY cap is unprofessional.

...and I wear hats all the time when not at work, but never backwards or half cocked. I also buy pants that actually fit and not hang halfway down either.

One thing I noticed as of late when playing poker at the casinos are a few folks starting to wear their sunglasses (usually fake designer type) upside down on their face. Cracks me up. Seriously stupid looking.

Yes, good point.... In my World, the only cap that should ever be worn backwards is a fitted cap.

Just because it is "fashionable" doesn't make it ok... :-)

I don't work in the professional world so I don't run into people who would seem out of place if they were wearing a baseball cap. I wear hats because I have too much hair, the problem is I am always messing with it (some sort of ADD) and it ends up forward or backwards depending on which way my mind tells me to reposition it in. Nothing about a style for me, just a subconscious decision to move my hat around. :-)

If you're truly talking business or having something other than an impromptu discussion where you caught an individual up to his elbows in work, then it is something that gives me a bad impression.

The way you present yourself is a direct reflection of the what others perceive they can expect from you. Like it or not.
