Definitely on the list of potential future purchases. Looks like he's got a good home :-)

Doesn't look from the Taino tribe.

I'm pretty sure a local brother saw my green-with-envy post above and decided to come to my rescue. :-)

Meet "The Chief", as my benefactor dubbed him many years ago. He's not all painted up, but after he gets cleaned up a bit & slathered with oil, I'm guessing he's gonna be right purdy.

Big thanks to Mannyboy for starting this thread -- without it, I'm not sure I'd have had this opportunity.

That.Is.Awesome! I kind of like it without the paint, will have a nice warm tone to it, class the joint up.

I missed that last week, Vin, that's super cool! Ours are very similar aside from the paint.

Same tribe maybe? :-)

Tung oil was recommended, and I've gotten one coat on so far. It really brings out the richness in the wood. Going to put on a second coat this weekend, and see where we're at after that. The Chief's going to spend a few weeks in the garage to off gas. Last thing I need are fumes in the lounge.

Successfully got him into the lounge without dropping him down the basement stairs and smashing him into a million little oil-stained pieces. :-)

I like how the shadow on the wall gives the illusion of wings. Clearly the eagle is his spirit animal.
