I'm super excited. I've wanted to be a Shriner since I was about 15. :-)

Super congratulations from me Darrell. I spent the better part of the 1960's at Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis, and I'm extremely grateful for all they have done for me. I will be forever in their debt. I was privilaged enough to meet the who's who of Hollywood during my many stays there. Nothing but the best for the kids. And, even though I'm a Packer fan, the doc that performed all my surgeries was the team physician of the Minnesota Vikings at the time. I guess that's why I'm a bit of a closet Viking fan to this day.

If I could, I'd shake your hand, but I'll applaud you from here for becoming a member of such a worthwhile organization and say thanks.:-)

Congrats Darrell! Could you tell me what a Shriner is?

I just remember seeing them drive around in miniature clown cars as a kid at the local parade.

Congrats Brother! Excellent way to put those Masonic principles into action! ( Not that you don't already! :-))

Like I asked before, when do you get your snazy fez?? :-)

Congrats Darrell! Great accomplishment. My grand-father absolutely loved driving his Gremlin go-cart in those local parades. :-)

The Shriners are an organization of Master Masons whose #1 priority is charity. These Men help to fund 22 hospitals nationwide, the Shriners Hospitals for Children are leading experts in the treatment of burn victims and correct of cleft palate. The parents of these children are not charged a DIME for their services, if a child is deemed fit to receive specialized services from the hospital, they are admitted.

Shriners are the good guys. :-)

OK. That is pretty much what I thought (burn victims, etc.)

Congratulations! :-)

They have the coolest meeting lodges too. At least the one here was. Filled with big padded chairs and low lights. Like stepping into a Bogart movie. They invited me every year to a Christmas party, and even then I thought this would be a cool place to light up a cigar. Too bad I was barely a teenager at the time.:-)
