All Cigar Discussion>Just got two boxes in and...

...they're sealed in plastic. Do I take the plastic off or leave them sealed until I'm ready to smoke? One box they are in glass tubes the other is a wood box, both boxes have cedar bottoms. :-)

either way, they have been stored in plastic since before you bought them I bet, but I would take it off. But that's me.

So store them at 70 percent humidity either way and they should be ready. I ask cause I usually don't buy boxes.

Thanks for your answers.

True.
However, I would open them up and inspect them. If there is damage or mold or any other problem, you'll have a better chance of staisfaction with the vendor as opposed to raising the issue 6 months later (or longer).

I like to remove the plastic from the box just so I can do a quick check of the cigars. The cigars themselves I leave in cellophane if they're wrapped.

EDIT: ..and Peter beat me to the bunch by a few seconds. :-)

Humidity is a personal preference, too. Some keep their's at 70. I keep mine at 65, others prefer even lower.

This! I've had boxes that were sealed and completely covered in mold.

I would leave the box sealed with the plastic but consider removing the bands so they can breathe better.

That's awesome, I get right on that.

Id echo what Peter said , At least take the wrapper off the boxes to have a peek at the sticks. The cello (and bands for that matter) is all personal preference.

I take the cello off my singles to allow them acclimate faster , boxes I just leave the cello on. Too much of a PITA to take the cello off all those sticks at once...
