Club 4130, apparently attached to hit restaurant Urban Enoteca. Any locals know anything about this?

From Rain City, right? :-)

I'm wondering if it's a new venture in the Club Vertigo space.

I don't think this is Bill, last time I talked to him he was planning on expanding downstairs and was pretty busy with what he already had on his plate. I think I will try and check it out some time next week but the Rain City e-mail did not have any contact information and I cannot find anything about the club online.

Daniel the owner of UCS is planning on opening a similar club and I think I will be joining that as he is a really great guy with some fantastic connections in the Seattle area. Hopefully he will get that going soon as the summer starts up there should be some great events going on...

This is not Bill. I emailed back and forth with Brian Thompson who is heading up this lounge. As mentioned, it is attached to the Urban Enoteca restaurant and wine bar. I don't really know how it would work, given that they've got employees and that is a no-no with our smoking ban. Here are some items that are NOT allowed in the lounge, as pulled from the agreement terms:

- No alcohol
- No food
- No swearing
- No cell phone usage

That's right, those things are NOT allowed in the lounge. Cost wise, it's a few bucks (ie < $10 less) a month than Vertigo. Upon initial opening, lounge hours will mirror those of the restaurant:

monday - tuesday closed
wednesday - thursday 4 - 9 pm
friday 4 - 11 pm
saturday 12 - 11 pm
sunday 10 am - 5 pm

However the plan is to eventually allow 24hr access. Some details about the space:

The lounge is a ventelated area with Wifi, private access, and TV. Your membership will come with a private locker and the overall space is about 400 sqft (it is a 20'x 20' space). The phase two contruction will be a 1200sqft outdoor covered and heated area with fire pit.

I'm all for additional lounge options, but I honestly don't see how they will succeed. I did hear some rumblings about the possible club/lounge at Lake Union Cigar Society that sounded pretty promising...

Yeah, I get hungry from time to time. I hope no one gets a blast of nic and needs some candy. Save the food, it's like smoking in church.

Not sure why they are connected to a nice wine bar / restaurant and won't allow food/alcohol in the lounge. I'm sure it has to do with permitting, but still. No way it will last...

Yeah sounds like they are not paying attention to what is going on in the city. Vertigo has the high end/first mover crowed owned and they do a great job of hitting that spot and staying within the law.

Daniel(owner of union cigar society) is building a great option for lower budget folks that should be ready to go around November for the winter. From everything I hear it will be a really great option at a much lower price point, but just enough to keep out riff RAF...

I'm not from the area but with those two limitations alone most the guys at the club where I hang out would be booted out the first day. Not saying everyone is a bunch of drunken, cursing heathens but hell most of the guys enjoy an occasional drink with their smoke and lets face we all curse. Just some more than others. :-) I can see the purpose of the cell phone rule but realistically though if guys are using the lounge to work remote one day that just won't work either so they pretty much eliminated the average person who would want to make use of the lounge. Depending on the cost the hours are pretty minimal too. I know a shop here was charging to use their very nice lounge area but they had very limited hours that they were open including closed on Sundays. Needless to say the membership cost didn't pan out due to it and now the lounge is free.

I've got no issue with the cell phone ban (more places should have them) but the other, particularly the no swearing would make it a non-starter for me.

Having said that, I'm sure there are specific licensing/permit issues with allowing alcohhol in there.
