General Discussion>Ouch! Sunburned
Kneo 09:54 AM 08-05-2011
The gym I work out has free tanning. I decided to try it the other day for the first time and went into the tanning bed for 10 mins. Big Mistake. I later found out as a newbie to tanning beds I should only go in for about 3 mins my first few times and work my way up.

Now I am sunburned almost head to toe. Was wondering if anyone had any secret tips how to reduce the pain and to make sure I don't peel.

I am waiting for this to go away before I try again and lessoned learned I will start at a less time.

Aspirin. Start taking two now and continue every four hours for the next two days. The burn will completely go away and you should not peel. This is coming from the whites man alive. It is amazing.

I heard urine helps...you should pee yourself...frequent golden showers, removes the sting

Red lamp oil or a product similar called Red Oil will take the pain away.

Check for drug store for something with aloe and licocaine, really helps take away the sting and cut down on peeling

That's Lidocaine Brian. I have a big bottle I got from Walmart called Ocean Potion with lidocaine. When I get sunburned around to two day mark it starts itching which really feels like 232,000 needles being stuck into me all at once. I rub this stuff on about every hour or two and the lidocaine kills the pain.

Stay hydrated. In fact, overhydrate. Drink as much water as you can stand, and then drink some more. Drink until your pee is so clear it's invisible.

Avoid using soap on the sunburned areas for a few days. I know, sounds gross, especially when you're trying to wash all that aloe off, but your skin will need as much of its natural oils as possible to keep from drying out.

Good luck!

I pray that you put a towel or something over the "man parts".

Noxema, it cools and keeps your skin from drying out.

I have erythropoietic protoporphyria so I burn checking the mail. Any good anti-inflammatory and a big bottle of aloe. Avoid the sun for a couple weeks, wear a hat, sunglasses, and a long sleeve shirt for any prolonged exposure to the sun.
