Alex is home safe with her mom, and her mom just called me to fill me in if I hadn't heard about it.
The kids got bussed home and evidently she doesn't have homework, so is playing Assassins Creed. It can't have been too traumatic. One of the kids was taken into custody outside her portable, evidently.
The shudders should go away about the same time my scalp stops crawling and I get a little less twitchy. The pit in my stomach might be there for a while.
Maybe some E&E drills are in our future, as well as some model/capacity recognition also, as this is her senior year and she will be headed to NDSU next year.

We have lockdowns here on occasion. Usually nothing happens, but if a prisoner within a ten mile radius has escaped or a situation of that sort occurs, the school will go into lockdown mode. Better safe than sorry. Glad everything is ok, Pete.

I would be ecstatic if we followed the Israeli model here. The teachers at my wifes school, for example are the biggest bunch of bed wetters I have ever seen, with the exception of
maybe two.
I was at the school the other day, no students were around. My wifes teaching partner was in the room. I carry a ZT assisted opener for an EDC blade and flipped it out to perform a task and her face turned white. She said something like "That's a SCARY Looking knife!!!" The blade is not even 4" long, and the with is an inch and a quarter or so...
<but the blade is black... like the handle...>
I replied, "Don't be silly Monica, this is nothing but a tool." Then I turned around and gave my wife the
:-)
To my wifes credit, she did the same to me and made a comment about Tools not being scary, even if they are black, or something to the effect.
Technically, I shouldn't even have had a knife on my person on school property, but I don't think they take away scrapers and razors from the janitor either, or the explosive aerosols for cleaning and such.
:-) Who knows what kind of dangerous stuff is in the purses of the moms and teachers.
:-)

One of the most wonderful small insignificant things about my daughter is that once she shot a Sig 556 this summer, she wants one very much, Zack. She digs the EBRs.
I don't think the sheeple realize what the SigSauer sticker on her Rodeo means, otherwise they would suspend her for Zero Tolerance.

Glad she is alright, Pete
Seems the Principal reacted swiftly and appropriately from the article, though.

Glad she's safe Pete.
I just had active shooter training at our high school recently. Glad departments are training for just this type of situation.
