I was at The W hotel in Dallas last night for a friend's birthday. In the lounge on the first floor they have a cigar menu, which was sickening. It had Cohiba Robusto, Montecristi#3, and Arturo Fuente Short Story, all for upwards of $20+. The Short Story was $21.... ridiculous.

That's pretty average for a cigar menu in a lounge though. After a few drinks when you have the urge for a cigar you'll shell out the $25 a stick. Its kind of like asking for a shot of grey goose and having a heart attack when the waitress says "$12.00 please". :-)

I have seen some retailers on this site advertise for what I would say is much higher than that. Just go down to the retailer section and click on a couple sites. You will see some expensive stuff down there. To make it fair, you will also find some stuff priced very well.

Years ago when Partagas 150's first came out and stock starting running low they were selling for $75.00 dollars a piece in stores and $200.00 in bars & restaruants. Whoa!

I seem to remember an upscale hotel cigar bar with a Between The Lines on the menu for $125

I'm never surprised when I see this. They charge you $100 for a $25 bottle of wine. So of course they'll rip you off on the cigars. Your best bet is to bring your own.

Was at a hotel bar last year, and they had Macanudos for $20 each. At that price, I would have expected air to have been $40.

The worst prices I ever saw was at Churchill Downs on Breeders Cup a few years back. Eveything was marked up 3x to 4x MSRP. They didn't have a stick there for under $15, most were over $25. A Partagas Black for $25 anyone? :-)

I felt really bad when I asked my sister to bring back from London the Robusto collection. It cost her about $230- I now see it at under $80. I'll never ask her to get anything like that again! But, as she told me- those five cigars are my Christmas and B-D gifts for the next five years!

At the Las Vegas airport at the Cuban Honey's cigar stand outside of the C and D gates, they had the Padron 80th's for $100 each. This was probably 2 months after they were out.

I asked if that was the price for the box and the guy laughed. Supply and demand was the logic he gave me.

The sad thing is that there was one out of the box.

In Vegas I saw short stories for $36. Then kicker was at my hotel, Por Larranaga Cuban Grade for $15 a stick (it was right after everyone was closing them out for $39 a box)

Like daddy used to tell me, they aren't the crazy ones for asking. They wouldn't be asking it if they weren't getting it. Same as a $150 "Official" football jersey, LeBron shoes for $200, etc.

First rule of thumb, never buy any tobacco or alcohol products at a casino unless you're paying for it with house money. I've always brought my own cigars with me so I never had to break down and buy any of theirs. Don't know what cigars go for but I've seen cigs priced at $8-9.00 a PACK. :-)
