The April tobacco is Orlik golden sliced, have fun.

Tin Description:
A blend of golden, fully ripe virginia leaves from the traditional districts of the United States. Natural sweetness and freshness.

Mmm, One of my favorites, I haven't had it in a while and need to get a couple tins soon! It smells peppery in the tin. I only hate how fast it drys up though! Great choice for Tabak of the month.

Cheers!

I have some of this. I just smoked some not too long ago. I'll have to smoke some more with the object of reviewing while I do. I'll post up what I think after I smoke it again.

I have a tin or two that I keep meaning to crack; last one got a little boring towards the end so I started mixing it with burley and perique to change the pace.

Time to lay off the Navy Cavendish and bring on the Orliks.

Orlik Golden Sliced is in a simple way your everyday Virginia. I feel like it is quite similar to HOTW, OG, and FVF. Al of these Virginia blends seem to run neck and neck with me where one week GS is my favorite I may like OG the next week. Golden Sliced has the sweet slightly fruity aroma and taste that we have all come to admire in a Virginia tobacco with out a hint of bite. I haven't smoked a pipe for about a week and the rest has clearly opened up my palate and I am seriously enjoying this blend at the moment. There isn't anything extraordinary to report about this blend but it is a very solid Virginia.

alrighty

smoked a flake in my new bjarne (which is apparently a great VA and flake pipe)

This was very reminiscent of Dunhill's Light Flake, but without the soapy hint

it was sweet, naturally so, with a kind of fruity/honey sweetness, vs the figgy sweetness of darker VA flake like FVF. smooth cool smoke (especially for a VA), nice "room note"

not much evolution throughout the bowl, but consistently good the whole time

I'll be looking forward to the rest of the tin

Wonderful to read all your thoughts of the ORLIK.

I, too, will look in my stash for a tin. If not I'll pick one up.

I've not focused on pipe smoking in quite a while. This thread and your input will enhance my smokes this tin

Tom
edit:
Even tho it's kinda late in the month.....I'll catch up to the fun

I broke back into my tin of this, and I think its ok. Nothing fantastic to write home about. It has a great aroma of raisins/prunes as most straight VAs do. I just found it boring during the duration of the smoke. It had an underlying sweetness, but I didn't find it particularly complex.

I'll make it through this tin, but I don't see myself buying it again.
