All Cigar Discussion>Visiting Bethlehem, PA (Famous and CI)
jimmyk26 10:54 AM 08-21-2010
I am headed to the Bethlehem, PA area next week for a wedding and figured it would be a great time to visit the Cigar Mega Stores of Famous and CI. So I have carved out a day for visiting these places. Does anyone have suggestions for my up coming visit with regards of when to go and what to be on the lookout for while I am there? Thanks!

I don't live in the area, but I visited the CI superstore while on a golf trip this year. I was less than impressed. It has a smoking area, but it's more of bar stools and tables than a leather couch-type setting.

I think we're making the same trip next year, I'm going to hit famous instead.

Doesn't CI have a new Blending Room? or is that Famous?

Ci has put on an addition. In the addition is a walkin humidor called the blending lab filled with pre production cigars. All the cigars are made by most of the cigar manufacturers that are in the main part of the store. They also have built the founders room which is another lounge and retail section where they display clothes humidors and there is even a bar section where you can bring your own beverage of choice. The blend lab has sone great smokes and some I didn't care for. It was fun going thru the selection. I have been to famous, but their lounge is small as is their retail section. Why not visit both places and have a great time.

Never been to Famous, but I like the downtown Bethlehem CI store. You can buy a smoke and smoke it on Main Ave. Bethlehem is a very nice little town. The CI out of town is much larger, and also worth the trip, but I do prefer the downtown setting.

In Bethlehem, if you like books, the Moravian Book store is nice. At the Sun Inn, you can walk in the footsteps of George and Martha Washington, John Adams and many other famous Americans. Lots of nice shopping, although more for the ladies then the men. There is a new Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar Tap room that is very interesting.

Bethlehem Brew-works is nice for the beer drinker.

Theres alot of good small Cigars shops around these parts but it would take your entire day to drive around to them. CI is worth the trip at least to see it..its not HOLTS thats for sure.

I just recently went to the CI downtown. It's small, quaint and quiet. I loved it. They had a good selection of sticks I don't normally see at my B&M and had a kind of old school charm about it.

I don't think you'll be blown away as it's about a quarter the size of a 7/11 but I had a good time and got some great sticks.

If someone can do us a favor out here from Afghansitan; just tell Famous and CI we say THANK YOU for shipping so quickly to our brothers out here on the battlefield. They are always fast and fresh. If someone can pass that along I would appreciate it.

:-)
