Wine, Beer, and Spirits>Shack Herf Bourbon thread
OLS 08:43 AM 06-26-2009
It would be nice to have a broad and hopefully non-duplicated selection of the best bourbons from the bourbon thread at the Shack Herf in August. If everybody who is interested in tasting a broad selection would bring a bottle or two we could really put together a large spread. Elsewhere I volunteered to bring a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed and a bottle of Eagle Rare. So I will start that list in a separate post. I figure we hold onto the bottles until we have had our own shot at tasting them together and then turn loose what we don't want to keep stashed onto the huge liquor table for the enjoyment of all. I am sure we would get no complaints! As was posted elsewhere, here is a wiki list of Bourbons. Not all of them are winners, you can bet. But I suggest checking in and reading through "The Bourbon Thread!!" to get an idea of what people think is really great and making your choice from there.

Mr.Maduro - Buffalo Trace

No need to pick two, Maddie, just thought you should know that, lol.
I went ahead and knocked one of my choices off when I saw the cost of that
Eagle Rare. I may still come back in with the 4 Roses Small Barrel as things hash out further, if they do. NOW I also wish I had picked Buffalo Trace. I just left Buster's, Memphis' largest and best dealing store, and picked up a 1.75L bottle of Buffalo Trace for 37 bucks onsale. WOW.

Because I'll be in New Orleans for a week previous to the shack herf for the IPCPR show. I don't get back till Thursday afternoon, so I'll have to get my stuff together and drive up Friday morning.

Ahhh, my hometown. Lovely place in AUGUST! Doubt you'll be doing too much outdoor walking. Ride the streetcar as far as she will take you and back.

The man copied the post where I was bringing two bottles. I am not even bringgin two BOTLs, lol. Actually though, I may still come off some cash and get two bottles, but the Eagle Rare was out of my league when I visited the cheap store the other day. I may end up getting one of those cheap bottles that no one can believe is good. Might be something else, Old Fitz or similar.
