Today's hail from Meijer.

Rock Hill Farms

Buffalo Trace

Not a shabby haul for $90 out the door.

Just curious Duane, how much did the Elmer T run you back in your area?

I think it was like $23-24. I got all 3 for ~ $90 after tax and I know the Rock Hill Farms was $40 of it.

Okay so I revisited this last night and I believe my palate is developing, it is pretty damn good stuff. Not at all like it was the first time I tried it.

Well I tried some Rye last night, different than bourbon but it was pretty good.
I wonder if we could change this thread to "The Whiskey Thread" so we do not need a bunch of different threads to talk about whiskeys?
Or do you guys think we should make a whiskey thread and keep bourbon seperate?
I was surprised at the limited selection of Rye locally.
I selected this one after ready a review online:

The entire selection locally for me:

If you're in the Northern Kentucky area, check out Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar in Mainstrasse. Ridiculous selection and the bartender Rich there has a wealth of knowledge about bourbon.

Figures

I'm solo with my daughters today/tomorrow at the Radisson within a short walking distance from there. At the Hofbrahaus in Newport now.

That Michter's Rye is good stuff, SteelCityBoy and I sipped half the bottle on Sunday.

Picked up a bottle of Eagle Rare the other day :-)

Eagle Rare is quality stuff but my goto bourbon is Woodford, especially if making an Old Fashioned.

I know this is a bourbon thread, but for those that like Rye, try Willett Family Estate Rye. A little spice, a little sweetness and very good neat. Turns into magic while smoking certain cigars.

Also, if you can find it, give Templeton Rye Whiskey a try. Research this one a bit as the story behind it is very cool. Al Capone had this stuff smuggled into jail...

I was at the Party Source last week. Here is my haul:

By the way Cliff, I got the same OESQ blend you liked so much.

Now I guess it's time to start actually drinking some of my stash.

:-)

NICE pickup. Rittenhouse is a good one and even at 100 can be consumed neat.

You could pour the Four Roses Single over your pancakes...

Nice pick-ups, Duane!!! It's tough for me to hold off opening up one bottle until I've emptied the one I'm working on!!! I've got half a dozen sitting, calling my name right now!!

angels envy is good if you like port. It starts out bourbon and ends with a port like flavor. I thought it was interesting. I would love ot try the cask strength but not at the price they are charging for it.
