Sports>Pete Carroll headed to the NFL?
ucla695 06:34 PM 01-08-2010
To my dismay, during his tenure at USC Pete has built an empire. He has dominated the PAC 10 for years. However, something happened this season this season that I could only dream of...he lost more than one game. Unfortunately, the Bruins weren't included in the tally...I digress. With Mora's firing, there's talk about Carroll heading to the Seahawks.

Is there truth to this rumor? Are the BB sanctions ringing so loudly in his head that he thinks the axe will fall next on his FB program cuz of Bush and others? I hope not. Pete is great for the PAC 10. As much as I hate to see him dominating the PAC 10, it'll be a serious blow. He has elevated the conference and has done so much for the inner city.

Anyway, what say you?

He didn't have much luck in the NFL last time... :-)

GO PATS! :-)

Leave it to you to post this Mike:-) I have been watching ESPN all day freaking out. Pete is a God to us SC fans. I'm not gonna lie, if he leaves I will cry for weeks.

Life will go on and I wish him the best but it will be a big hit to our program. Not only on the field now but it will really hurt our recruiting. Pete could go anywhere in the country and get the best players.

We have to go through this every year it seems but this time it looks pretty serious. If the Seahawks give him full control of operations he will be gone. The only good thing is he wants to take the OC Bates with him. He did a decent job but he was way too conservative for me. Granted he had a freshman QB this year but you can't throw twenty one yard passes a game.

My fingers are crossed but I have a plethora of beer handy just incase (insert nervous smiley)

Oh yeah about what he did for the inner city....

If he ran for Mayor he would win unanimously. :-)

I will make a cigar bet that the only team he coaches next year is USC.

Come on Gary...I can't believe I'm saying this, but Pete's a great activist! To his peril, he goes into the heart on the inner city, late at night and extols the virtues of doing things right. I remember seeing footage of him in the projects, with, escorts of course, and imploring people to make the "right" decision. They'll listen to someone they look up to...even if he's a Trojan. :-)

I don't see him coming back. He's a great college coach, it's hard to go back and forth. It's kind of like Petino did with the Celtics.
But I do think that it's funny that Weis is heading to KC for O.C. and rumor is that they are looking at Romio for the D.C.!!

ESPN's (HYPE) Chris Mortensen has reported that he is trying to recruit the UCS Offensive Coordinator Jeremy Bates to go with him as opposed to Bates pursuing the same position with the Chicago Bears. http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/po...ed-to-seahawks

Garrett's gonna be a target now. He won't have a successful football program to hide behind. :-)

Hey, if USC would offer him the same outrageous $5M/year contract Texas gave Mack Brown, he may stay. :-)
