Hey all, I know there are countless opinions on the subject of pairing cigars with different beverages, but let me know what you have found to be amazing. I'm writing an article, a series of articles in fact, for a magazine and would like feedback from people who really know cigars. I've only been regularly smoking them for about 13 years, but don't want to give just my opinion.
Here's what I'd like to know...Brand and name of beverage, great cigar to go along with it, and why.
Examples: Bells Oberon ale with a Pepin Blue Generoso because...
Or: Woodford Reserve with an La Flor Dominica Chisel because...
Or, and this is the tough part for me...wine! I don't know enough about wines!!
Mixed drinks, too. Cosmopolitan with a ____ because... Or, Whiskey sour with a _____ because...
Thanks, in advance!

One of my all time favorite parings was a wonderful Padron 45th Family Reserve in Maduro, with a bottle of Deschutes' "The Abyss"..:

The notes of coffee and the more earthy flavors of both played against each other for about an hour. I was sorry when it ended; one of the best parings I've ever had, to be sure....
:-)

Rick & I once did a "what martini goes best with a cigar?"
The answer is "all of them".
And the
only liquor used in the test was gin. Anything else is NOT a martini.

Reminds me been a while since I got a bottle of Fonseca 27. I think I'll have to make this combination happen.

Knew we could count on you to put gin martinis on the list. As for the cigar pairing ... RyJ Anniversario (NC - used to love these together) and a fresh Boli PC (my current fav CC - martini paring).

This thread may or may not be dead, but I'm putting in my 2 cents. Rocky Patel Decade with a white russian. Or a black russian. Whichever is your preference really.

I feel like a drinking amateur when I admit that I've never had a Russian Qualude before. Looked up the recipe and it sounds amazing. Definitely going to try it next time I'm out on the town.
