Island (The other ones) Reviews>a blind taste test - CAO Criollo Bomba

I took Pass up on his blind taste test offer in the BTT/PIF thread. This was my 3rd smoke labeled #1 on the bag of the 5.

Brother, either you are a God or have quite the connection to one. This cigar was not meant for mortal hands to hold and smoke. The Draw made breathing air feel like a task while still holding a strong firm construction. The flavors of creamy leather and wood were neither overpowering or too subtle but a perfect blind of them all.

The last half transformed before i even noticed into spices and a creamy black pepper. The ash left me wondering if an ash could be any more picture perfect. The mound left from the cherry was perfectly centered and only about 1/4 of an inch high while the ash held on for a good 1.5 inches. The smoke was as plentiful as wine is in wine country and as thick as the smog over LA.

I feel as though my vanilla frapp from starbucks is almost an insult to this cigar as its so good by itself, but yet they are both complimenting each other and only making my taste buds go that much crazier.

I don't smoke many cigars at all down to my finger tips but this one i did. Most of the time they start to tunnel and have huge burn issues by the start of the nub, but this one was a trooper and smoked perfectly till it burnt my finger tips. Like all good things in life, it came to an end.

Sorry for no pics, it was took dark out an no flashy on my crappy celly.

Overall: a very solid 9.25/10. (is there such thing as THE PERFECT cigar?)

A perfect kick off for the fall season!!

I'm glad you liked it! This is one of my go to sticks! You smoked the CAO Criollo Bomba.

Personally, I like the Pato size a bit more... it is one of those sticks where the size affects the smoke. However, the Bomba is an outstanding smoke.

Thanks for the review, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

Great review! I had a CAO Criollo once before and loved it. I will have to pick up another next time I see one.

I have yet to have a bad CAO. CAO has their blends down pretty good.

I've been impressed with CAO's reliable construction. I haven't tried the Criollo yet, but now it's on my to-buy list. Thanks for the review!
