All Cigar Discussion>What is your favorite $5 or under daily smoke and why?
brigey57 10:20 AM 07-10-2014
I have been pondering, what is the best $5 stick and under, including house brands, for my everyday smoke. I have some favorites, but I want to change things up now and again so I ask what is your favorite stick you have been going to on your everyday list.

If you have a region or strength that you are willing to share I would love to hear you recommendations too.
:-)

Illusione R Rothschilde by far

There's others that I can get on cbid for less than $5, but at retail, this easily beats any others I can think of.

Famous Nic 5000 Toro...hands down, my favorite value stick. Nice, tasty maduro...and if you can let them rest for about 18 months...:-) :-) :-)

Padron 2000 Maduro hands down for me. You can usually find them for 5 dollars or lower online. If you have the patience to let them sleep for a year or so, they are even better! One of the tastiest, most enjoyable sticks by far for me (including cigars over 5 dollars)

I have not been smoking long enough to have a favorite .

I have found I can get many different rated 90 to 95 smokes for $2.00 to $3.25 buy watching for daily specials on cigars international CI . Holts , Cigars DOT com ect

Recently I bought a bundle of 20 Nicararo SunGrown Torpedos for $29.95 free shipping and was amazed at the quality and taste .

This.

I also really like the Ashton half coronas. I think they are short filler, but they taste great for 2 bucks.

By the way if the FDA gets their way we may not see cigars for less than $5 anymore. =(

I guess you saw my tag line..."Just say NO to SCHIP and Cigar taxes!"

While smoking, if you feel like you've got a pain in your arse, get up and make sure you don't have a bureaucrat stuck up there!

Probably the San Cristobal El Principe, at just over $4 per stick.

Some others that are good in this price range are:
Fonseca Delicias, Fonseca KDT Cadetes < $3 per stick
H.Upmann Coronas Junior, H.Upmann Epicures, H.Upmann Majestic, Hoyo Palmas Extra < $4 per stick
Much of the Jose La Piedra Cremas line < $3 per stick
La Flor De Cano Selectos < $3 per stick (excellent!)
Partagas Aristocrats, Partagas Mille Fleurs, Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales < $4 per stick (all excellent!)
Por Larranaga Panetelas < $3 per stick (one of my top cigars now regardless of price)
Romeo y Julieta Coronitas en Cedro < $4 per stick (a good stick, some would say excellent)
Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs < $4 per stick (I think that the recent production are off, but others don't)

There are more CCs, but these are the ones that I've smoked in the past couple of years (current pricing tho)

Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas at about $4.50 a stick.

Why? 'cause they're so damned delicious.

I'll throw a vote to the Flor de Oliva bundles. Four different wrapper leaves, each available in several sizes from robusto upwards. These were what Oliva made first, and to my palate they have tasted about the same through all the time that has passed.

For me the best two are the Sumatra and Corojo in torpedo size.

There are a lot of cc's that'll do it, Mark hit a bunch. Great list.
So far as NC's go, Sancho Panza maduro's and Extra Fuerte's are excellent. Or at least I think so. Haven't had one in a couple years, but I never had a bad one and they're always perfect and consistent.

EP Carrillo New Wave Connecticut. Stella (corona) is my favorite vitola in the line and a box comes to just over $3 ea. The other sizes come in under $5 as well.

If you don't like Connies or want something stronger my second favorite is the Oliva Serie O natural. All vitolas under $5 if bought by the box or 5er and some even if you buy singles.

Five bucks for a daily smoke is too dear for this poor boy, so I recommend those in similar leaky rowboats to try Consuegra 9Ms, available from JRs for under $40 for bundles of 25. I strongly suspect the same seconds are sold by CI under the unbanded brand they sell as Honduran Seconds.

Why? They are a tasty bargain.
