Hey Folks

Looking for reviews or hands on experience with the following products
http://www.ammodors.com/

The 30
The 50
The Fat 50

I was thinking about picking one of these up, however I would love to hear reviews before pulling the trigger :-)

Thanks
Dux/Doug

I'll be honest I don't know anything about them other than looking at the pictures and personally I think they are crazy! You can get ammo cans all over the place for almost nothing, line it with cedar and put in your beads and hygro … seriously over 100 bucks???

Oh and if you needs the beads, I'm sure Michael will have some in the TROOP SUPPORT AUCTION!

I have no experience with them, but they sure do look cool. If I was in the market, I'd gladly spend the $100. Especially since it appears they are build by military vets and a portion of the proceeds gets donated to military causes. Good luck with your purchase and let us know how you like it.

Actually, I think they are cool too. If you do get one and/or hear any feedback, please share.

I might go with the 50 and add the extra tray. I will post updates if I end up making the purchase :-)
I'm always happy to support our vets with business ventures like this!

What about this?

Sure, La Stinkas are crap, but everybody needs yard 'gars on occasion.

A shop I have stopped at a few times sold ammo containers similar to that. They got them with cigars in them. Sold them when empty for 12 bucks. It's lined with cedar but not with the same detail as the ones above. Bought it cause it was cool. Not even sure where it's at now.

I'm not familiar with ammodors.com specifically, but I've had many of the troops tell me that ammo cans, when they can get them, do make great humidors even out in the desert. They seal incredibly well.

I don't see where the company is claiming to be veteran owned or run, but I do see their links to the charities that they support though.

Doug and the rest of those inquiring,

I own one. I want another one and would love to get my father in law one. I've owned 3 humidors and a cooler. The AMMODOR is the best. Kevin, the owner is a stand up guy, a veteran, and will take time to call you. I use Boveda in mine. I keep it rock steady all year long. Hope this helps a little bit.

Jon

How has your experience been. I see they line them with cedar but the top is still metal. Have you noticed any change in flavors of your cigars. The only reason I ask, is that in my opinion ammo cans smell. They smell metallic even after having nothing in them.

On the top of my Ammodor, Kevin installed a Boveda Holder on top of the lid. I have never had any metallic smell or taste. I personally believe that my cigars aged the best in it. I'm not a family member or a paid endorser lol. :-)

Amazon has this same can, unconverted. Sorry, no link, I'm feeling dumb today.

Same can, not converted but less than 30 bucks. Turning it into a humidor would be a good winter project.

If you get either let us know how it works out for you.

Ammo cans make great humidors. You don't even need humidifiers in them cuz they are so airtight. I made some with the cedar separators that come in boxes but I don't use them anymore. I have a coolidor for storage and a desktop for quick access.
I cleaned mine out real good with hot bleach water before using them.
They ain't purty.

• No harmful chemicals or smelly adhesives used
• Interior lining cut using exact 45 degree angles and pressure-fitted installation
• All boxes are cleaned and sterilized prior to use
