Good Eats>Any Nashville, TN residents?

Planning a road trip in August and plan on finding a good place for lunch. Looking for a good burger or bbq and my research thus far shows Rotier's is supposed to make a great burger. Question I have is this a place that you would take kids for lunch or not. The outside pics aren't very impressive, so I don't know if it's a place I could sit down for a meal with the family or not. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I love Jack's BBQ downtown. There are lots of things to do and see in that area and I never miss a chance to eat there. Have fun on the trip brother.

I'll take that into consideration. I'm not looking to get out and visit at all. I'm just looking for a place to get out and relax and get back on the road so I can get into Atlanta at a decent time that day.

Sorry brother... I guess I didn't read your post very well... I was thinking you were staying in Nashville.

Headed down to Disney...stopping for lunch in Nashville and then staying the night in Marietta, going to a Braves game, and then driving down to Gainesville to stay the night again before a short morning drive.

I was a resident of Nashville for the better part of 20 years, although I left the area in the mid nineties....

Rotiers is a good place for a burger, but if you want to eat at a true Nashville institution, I'd suggest the Loveless Cafe. Rotiers is good, but often times will be dominated by the Vanderbilt crowd... Rotiers is pretty much right across the street from Vandy, and has a much stronger 'college' feel than even the Varsity in Atlanta...

Corky's BBQ is in Brentwood, Tn, and is down I-65... You'll need to snake through Franklin TN to Murfreesboro to pick up I-24 southbound to Chattanooga after you're done eating there.

Other 'interesting' places to consider might be Elliston Soda Shop, which is just a mile away from Rotiers.

The local 'alternative' paper is The Nashville Scene, and the dining section can be found HERE

Have fun, and lemme know if I can help you out any more.

You should be ok on time, only four hours (or less) from Nashville to Atlanta. I don't visit Nashville proper much these days, mainly spend time about 30 miles east in Lebanon at sister's house. But I can second the fact that Roiters will have a lot of school crowd, depending. Summer session is currently in at Vanderbilt, but that will be a much smaller crowd, so you might hit it with a decent chance of lower crowd levels. I don't know about the Brentwood place mentioned, never been there. Have a great trip, and be careful driving.

Is Mack's Country Kitchen, down by the IHOP next to Vandy, still open? That was some of the best home cookin' I ever had.

I was going to holler about the uselessness of going from ATL to Gainesville
rather than just driving it out. But then I remembered. As long as you are
heading for a Mickey Mouse-style wallet raping, no sense in staying your first
night in Orlando. Talk about the dreaded double F*&$,

It allows us to stop before it gets real late and will get us in at a time in the morning that we can go ahead and check into animal kingdom lodge.

Or you could drive 30 miles further down the road, stay in Ocala, and come by the house for a smoke!!!

Here's MY E-tickets, y'all have fun. Daddy loves you..."

I live 15 minutes from Loveless, it's WAY Overrated, southern style food AKA Jammed with fat and salt. If you want a heart attack head over to loveless. But maybe that's just me.

I grabbed a burger at Fat Mo's on the way down. Pretty good I thought.

On the way back through on Saturday, I'm planning on going to Southern Bred. Reviews look pretty good. I got a gift certificate cheap on restaurant.com.
