Ever since my sons have had cell phones they say "peace" where I would say goodbye. So a phone conversation goes like this:
Me: blah blah blah
Son: Blah
Me: Blah blah
Son: Blah
Me: OK bye
Son: Peace
Is this a common goodbye phrase?
:-)

Yes it is Al. I always say "later" when ending a phone conversation.

Silas: Peace.
Bart: Peace is meant to explain a state of tranquility. Ok? So why don't you try finding a way to say goodbye, now that you're among civilized people.
Silas: Well, Mr. Civilized, peace can also be used interjectionally, as a request, greeting or farewell.

This topic got me thinking of m y grandmother God rest her soul. She used to just hang up. No word to show the conversation was over. When she was done it was just, click. Ahh, that made me smile.

I usually say "peace" when ending a phone conversation with my friends. I don't use it when on the phone w/ my wife, kids, or my parents though.

I have never heard this since the hippy days.
I think of "peace" as the absence of threat. Related to "bliss" and usually associated with ignorance.

I have heard many people use "Peace" asa a way of ending a phone conversation, but I never have. I do say "Later" quite a bit on the phone. Now if I am leaving a someone's house I might say "Peace out B!tches".

My oldest daughter (now 29) has always said:
"Peace, Out".
when saying bye on the phone.
Me? If I like you I'll say "Bye"...
If not, I'll just hang up.
