General Discussion>US finance simplified
BC-Axeman 09:24 PM 03-30-2011
From a Cybercast news article today:

"Imagine that you had an average monthly income of about $170 balanced against average monthly expenses of about $940--and that you were more than $14,000 in debt. Then imagine that as of today, you had only $58.60 in cash left in your bank account and $130.50 left on your line of credit. Now multiply these numbers by 1 billion and you will have the up-to-date financial situation of the U.S. government."

Now imagine you can just print more money.
And that you can keep borrowing.

I can't see how this will get out of hand. There is nothing political at all about this. It should be a reality check.

I dont think there is anything inflammatory in the first post, but have seen similar, sobering, type statements start debate about solutions and as soon as that starts it typically goes down hill

Yep. This is only a snapshot of the current situation before the new budget passes. The solutions are not for anyone here to suggest, unless they are involved.
I'm pretty sure the solutions will involve the mentioned borrowing and printing, though.:-)

Not if we stay mature and stick to the rules. I trust we will. I may have undue faith in my fellow inmates. Still, the OP has a useful perspective that is worth viewing.

And that's why I'm nervous about our future.

If my finances were like the government's, they'd throw me in jail for fraud.

Peace of the Lord be with you.
