While not a wristwatch, it is my Great Grandfather's Illinois 21 Jewel Bunn Special Lever set railroad pocket watch. I just received it from my mother and it was sans crystal and barely kept time. I had it professionally refurbished and new crystal put on. I'm glad it is still in the family.

took me a while to get the photo down to a reasonable size.

That's cool looks like the Seiko (as far as my memory goes) that my dad used in UDT, at least it's really close.

Ya Adam, your dad most likely had a 6309 or a 6105 (apocalypse now) that Martin Sheen wore.

Any pictures of the movement?
Big thing on old watches is the dial which looks good on your family heirloom. As long as the dial is good, the rest can be fixed or serviced.

There is a small crack in between the 3 and the 4 on the dial. I had it serviced and new crystal installed, and the thing is running like a tank now. It is my everyday carry watch. I have tried wrist watches many times, have a number of them scattered throughout the house gathering dust, but just don't like them on my wrist. This watch is perfect for me.

That's a gorgeous movement. 21 jewels is serious. Must've been a premium watch in its day. Enjoy it.

Thank you very much. My great grandfather was a railroad conductor, and it was his that was issued to him by the railroad. My understanding is he was not allowed to set the time on his watch, only the railroad could, and they fined him if he let his watch wind down.

Makes sense seeing how that is a precision piece.
