Picked up a tin of Mac Baren Mixture Flake and tried a bowl in good ol cob. Much better smoke than the Navy Flake. Smoother and creamier, though that Mac Baren cavendish flavor is hard to shake when its thrown into the blend.

Very interesting.
Very few blends from McClelland have given me that ketchup taste at all, though they all reek of it.

Had 2 bowls of Frog Morton On the Town, split around a bowl of On the Bayou. Followed up with a bowl of some straight perique and a bowl of our bulk straight VA while trying to figure out how I want to blend the two together. Might throw some of my MacBaren Virginia No. 1 in the mix to add a little extra sweetness, the bulk VA wasn't as sweet as I was hoping.

Christmas Cheer 2011, I should buy a few more tins of this before 2012 releases.

Trying to make some of my own blends, the one I got now isn't too bad. 1 part perique, 1/2 part black cavendish, 1.5 parts VA long cut, 1.5 parts Mac Baren Virginia No. 1

Broke in the new Eriksen I picked up at work with a bowl each of 09 Bayou Morning Flake, and 08 St. James Woods. Funny how the amount of perique and type of VAs used can completely change the flavors given off. The Bayou Morning Flake was a nice little spice bomb, very little on the sweetness I typically get in the forefront in VA/Pers, but the St. James Woods was very mellow and sweet with little to no spice showing up.
