Oh yeah, woohoo! Got my firearms license and handgun purchase card today and am damn excited!!! I am also surprised at the speed at which the state of NJ worked to get this done, bravo! I was seriously expecting it to be drawn out but it literally took about 2 weeks.

Next week when I have off for the Xmas holiday I am taking a ride to the sport shop to browse and see if they have an Springfield Armory XD-9 that I can try out on their indoor range.

I think I narrowed my choces down to theS&W M&Pc .40 or the comprable version of the Glock line.

Both are great choices :-) :-)

If you can, try before you buy. While I have a G19 and love it and shoot it well, I'm a 1911 guy so it always seems "lacking". I rented a M&P once and fell in love. It's on my "to get" list...along with a CZ Kadet, SCAR, another BCM...

go with the m&p I have two of em. My carry 9c is easily concealed and when the initial 13 rounds run out I can slap in my 17 or 28 rounder.

Yes I plan to go to a shop near here and will try the different guns, thanks for the advice

I have considered both the 9 mil and the 1911 but feel the 1911 is too big and too much kick (for wife) with les rounds. As for the 9 i am still considering it for the extra rounds but how much "stoping" power am I giving up? the .40 amd the 9 are the same size as far as concealment goes.

I wouldn't worry too much about "stopping power". With today's modern ammo technology, a 9mm will do just fine.

does anyone know what you have to do to sell a gun and transfer it to the new owner? I want to sell my current AR and get myself a version similar to the one I use at work but would have to sell my present AR to fund it.

Depends on the laws of the state. Most states allow for ftf (face to face) transfers between individuals of the state. Out of state requires a transfer through an FFL.

Gunbroker is easy to use for selling.

You might also take it to the EE (equipment exchange) on ar15.com

If it were me (Wa. St.), I would try to sell in state. Check state ID, require a concealed weapons permit on the part of the buyer (signifies a successful background check), and submit a sales record form with the state agency in Olympia.

Thanks for the tip. I am also located in Washington State so that info pertains to me.

Any Glock guys in here?

Ran into a little problem today. Went to the range today and fired around 200 rounds, everything working perfectly. Came back home and cleaned it, just field stripped it, resembled it only to find the trigger won't reset. Went ahead and detail stripped it and after reassembling it the trigger reset for the first two dry fires, then went back to not resetting. I did find that if I pull/hold the trigger back while re-cocking that the trigger will reset. Any ideas?
Wolfgang 02:14 PM 12-29-2010
Is you glock factory or have you put in aftermarket stuff? When you detail stripped it did you remove and clean the firing pin assembly?

Most common things would be connector issues or crap is accumulating in the striker channel.
