Pitching looks rough to start the year. Cueto out, Bailey on the 15 day DL, and Arroyo has mono. Volquez looks horrible during Spring Training. It could be a rough start for the year.

Yes, GABP is a better ball park (the view, atmosphere, you can actually see the river, etc...), but Riverfront was a place where history was made and was home to the Big Red Machine. I'm sure those who remember Crosley Field felt the same way when they tore it down as I do about Riverfront.
Oh yeah, I am sure it was sad to see it torn down. I remember different memories b/c I wasn't around for the Big Red Machine. I remember a drunk guy running onto the field during a huge storm and security obliterating the guy :-)

I was also there when Barry Larkin joined the 40/40 club. I was there for the last game at Riverfront as well. I also remember feeling like I was going to fall out of the stands climbing the red seats at the top..

I'll bet you a 5'er that the Reds make the playoffs.

I'll bet you a fiver they don't win the World Series. With as weak as this division is (again), they definitely could win it. :-)

I'll bet you the over under on the number of wins is less than 115. You want the over? :-)

I'll bet you Stubbs bats under .310 this year. You want the over? :-)

I'll bet you Jay Bruce hits less than 50 homeruns this year. You want the over? :-)

I'll bet you Homer Bailey wins less than 15 games this year. You want the over? :-)

Come on Dan, you would claim all these things but you won't bet them :-)

Why not bet the playoffs? You just told Aaron that you need to have a lot of hope for them to have a good year again. They made it to the playoffs last year...

Sorry what I was trying to say is that I hope they can do even better then last year. I look forward to seeing what Leake and Wood can do with a year under the belt.

Because there is no question they should make the playoffs in this weak division. :-)

Every year you say it is a weak division. Blah, blah, blah.

I am not just saying it, its true. When you win the division with a record not even good enough to win the Wild Card, and the division contains the worst team in baseball, and the division has a stellar .472 winning percentage, I would say thats a pretty weak division. Lest you forget the Reds second half schedule was the easiest in baseball and had 8 games against winning teams of their last 45. The Reds won it last year and got swept convincingly in the playoffs, yet you proclaim them to be this years World Series Champs! I am sorry I am a little more of a sports fan and a realist than a homer. :-)

Leake hasn't looked good this spring. He might get lucky and make it back up to Cincy before the year's out.

The Reds will likely bring him in when Bailey gets crushed a few starts in a row. :-)

I thought I read somewhere that he will be here for opening day. Owell I hope he can get back on track again.

You are right. With Cueto out for the time being, Leake looks to be the number 5 starter.

How long before Chapman becomes a starter? I dont think he will this year but next year I think he will be.

More importantly, how long until the Reds miss use him and he needs Tommy John? I think he is going to be best suited as a set up man. In the long run, throwing 102 is going to shorten his career severely if he is throwing 85+ pitches every 5 days. His control is lacking and you can only throw it past people so many times before they figure you out. The Reds bullpen has been weak and he will be better suited there :-)
