The Reds sure do have a lot of great young pitchers.

You can have a terrible pitcher and still win games with a great defense. But good pitching makes it all that much easier.

What about when the ball is hit in the stands so the defense doesn't even have to move
:-)

If that happens too much, then it's not terrible pitching; that is horrible pitching.

Anytime they are talking about Homer Bailey in the starting rotation, it makes me cringe. He is awful

I keep hearing that Bailey will mature and develop, but IMHO, if he hasn't yet matured and developed by now, then it's time to cut him loose. he could be a decent setup man to Chapman, but they're not ready to get rid of coCo. coCo needs to go if he can't successfully close this year (w/o giving all of us fans a heart attack or stroke each and every game).

I still like CoCo. Sure, he makes it stressful, but he was one of the best closers last year.

Numbers don't always tell an accurate story. Yes, a win is still a win and a save a save, but there are plenty of closers who get the job done and make it look a lot easier.

I agree. I was at a game last year where we were up by 3 or 4 and came within a spectacular HR robbing catch by Bruce to save the game for CoCo

Luckily the Reds benefited from the easiest schedule in baseball last season. Good news for them is the division still looks weak, as long as they beat everyone else but the Cardinals all year, and the Cardinals lose to all the bad teams again, they could win the division.

It still looks weak, but some of those teams have made improvements over last year. The Brew Crew and the Asstros look like they could do some damage this year if they play it right.

Good news for the Reds today, if Wainright is out for the season that automatically gives the Reds a 5+ game lead over the Cards to start the season. They certainly can't beat them, but if they lose a 20 game starter and a Cy Young runner-up it makes them much weaker.
