If we don't kill him, he sits around for years ordering new attacks. If we do kill him, his followers want revenge and order new attacks. If we take him prisoner, other muslim terrorists use that as an excuse to kill innocent people.

It sounds like a no win scenario, but it's not. They know we got him, they also know that his own people gave us the info that led to him. They also know that we will go anywhere, anytime to get them and there is no 'Put your hands up, you're under arrest' mentality when it comes to people like themselves.

If anything, they are scared. They will look at each other now and wonder if anyone can be trusted.
I appreciate what your saying and i think you have misread or misunderstood my post as i wasnt condemning the swoop which resulted in his death. it was spot on
There will be a new offensive against america, no doubt about that, the actions today just help start a new generation of terrorists.

I dont think osama was in command anymore, a ageing man in a bunker with no comms who relied on a paperboy who probably gave him up in the end.
Al-Qaeda is an idea, not a structured organisation so in operational terms I doubt his death will have much of an effect

Crap, I was off by 1730 yards.:-)

Sorry to cut the quote down so far, but I agree with a lot of this. Obviously it's a damned if you do sitcho,
but they would be smart to shut up and sit down. Putting their stupid heads up now is just gonna get em
a ringside seat to the next burial at sea. One can only hope.

As for Irish' prediction of a new generation of terrorists, I am not so sure. Sure, there is always that chance,
but I think the youth would be wise to get on this new "Let's take our country back" bandwagon that seems to be
spreading through the region like Arab-AIDS. This might be the perfect thing at the perfect time, and I am not so
sure that this is not taking place at a time and place of the administration in Washinton's choosing, within operational
reason.

Let's just say they'll go to sleep at night with a clean conscience knowing they did the right thing and that we are forever in debt to them.:-)

I'm sure they'll receive their accolades behind closed doors amongst themselves.

Last night I was at a theater watching Fast Five (dont judge me!) and someone texted me the news. I almost stood up and shouted out the news to everyone.

In regard to Team 6 that conducted the raid, I hope the don't show their faces either because that will end their career.

Also, I don't believe that he was totally buried at sea. Even the KGB kept Hilter's skull :-)

Remember as well that UBL had one goal in his war with the US, not to kill as many of us as he could, but to
bankrupt the US. Now after countless lives lost in 2 wars, he nearly lived to see his wish fulfilled.
Of course, that "Million Dollar" home of his??....worth about 100,000. So the housing bubble got him, too.

No biggie, I wasn't sure if you were talking about the Captain Phillips incident or there was another incident that I might not have caught and I do seem to recall that a number of early reports regarding the resolution of the Captain Phillips hostage situation did in fact, erroneously report a much longer distance, some might have possibly stated a mile.

All I have to say on this topic is that I have seen his 'work' of death and destruction up close and personal - and that will live with that forever.
I will not get tied up in the politics, conspiracy theories, right/wrong/whatever. In my heart I know today is a great day; and I will enjoy it as such.

Say what you will about smoking laws, the perception of smoking, and tobacco taxes in Massachusetts, Boston knows how to celebrate an American victory:

I hope these guys sat around somewhere on their base last night and smoked some Cohiba's! May God bless them and all other troops around the world.

Some of these internet memes about this are hilarious. I'll try to make sure they aren't *too* political...

A good day indeed. I just smoked a BRC and RASC to celebrate his demise. Good riddance to scum.
