I think it's time to try and revive this thread.
Been getting back into the bourbons lately, picked up a bottle of Four Roses yellow label and a bottle of Larceny. I really like the Four Roses but wow, the Larceny is just awesome. Sweet, smooth, just a bit of bite and a long finish. I'll have to keep an eye out for some more Heaven Hills products.

I had a parent of a client bring me bottle of Angel's Envy as a thank you. Wow, was I impressed. Great finish! Just a little bit of sweetness.

Revising the thread is a great idea. I have been into a number of new to me bourbons recently.
I'll mention one now that is very reasonable and surprisingly wonderful. Has anyone else recently tried Jim Beam Black (Double Aged)?

WOW! WOW! WOW!
Top of the line bourbons.
I have been lucky enough to have sampled them all, several times each.
For what it's worth, IMHO, I favor the Stagg as my No. 1 choice, followed by the 10yo Van Winkle as No. 2

Yeah I have heard that the Stagg is really good, If I could get it here (they just don't ever make it to the shelfs in Canada) I would have tried it long ago but the fact that everyone of these took quite a bit of hunting and hassle to get, especially the Pappy's I'm kinda hoping it is sub hype or it will be difficult for me to track them down in the future. That being said I am on the look out for more Pappy's and Stagg should anyone feel the need to help a guy out by point him in the right direction these coming months.

Found a Bourbon to nearly match my favorite, Blanton's - Angel's Envy. Light, mildly sweet and smooth as silk! This is a keeper!

So I bought a cheap bottle of Evan Williams to spritz the ham I cooked on Christmas.
Way tastier than That Jack Daniels crap. And half the price.
I wouldn't drink it neat, but I have Eagle Rare or Bulleit for that.

Now that it's after 12:00... Drinking a glass of Elijah Craig 94 proof.
Needs a little more kick, but it IS still pretty early. Might go grab something higher proofed later on today. Saw a bunch of four roses single barrel at my local.

Have any of you tried "Pike CreeK Whisky" from Canada?
It's becoming one of my new go to whiskeys lately. I first tried it a few months back, 80 proof and finished in Vintage Port Barrels. I am into my 3rd bottle already. It is one very tasty, smooth whiskey!

I've turned a few Jack drinkers on to Evan Williams. I did a blind taste test with a friend about seven years ago. He'd been a Jack drinker for 25 years and was stunned when he picked the EW. I said "half the price and just as nice".
I drink it on the rocks after I've already had a couple of something else and my sense of taste is getting impaired.

Has anyone tried the Maker's Mark Barrel strength that's out in limited amounts? Not available in Bama, but will be checking around, and would like to hear the thoughts from any who have tried it.

Went through a bottle and thought it was good. $35-40 per 375ml good? Not sure if I would buy it again (but that's just me). I've seen some people stock up on it. Worth a try if you can get it for less than $40
