Wine, Beer, and Spirits>What beers are you enjoying?
BlackDog 03:53 PM 01-15-2010
Working from home this afternoon, so I decided to crack open a Surly Furious to start the weekend right.

Had a Fatty Boombalatty by Furthermore and a Ballistic IPA by Asylum at lunch.

One of my friends at work went to Rochester over Christmas and she brought me back an awesome selection Ommegang beers: Three Philosophers, Witte, Hennepin, Abbey Ale, and this:

Don't think I've ever seen 12oz bottles of these, even when we went to Cooperstown a few years ago!

I've only had Hennepin and Three Philosophers from Ommegang. Both were very good. I want to try some of their other beers as well. Good friends you've got there. :-)

I spent most of the day ice fishing, and was ready for a couple beers when I got home. Just finished a Goose Island Honker's Ale. Now I'm drinking a Sam Adams Cream Stout. I think this is my favorite "regular" stout.

Drinking a Founder's Double Trouble. Wow, what a great beer. If you have it available in your area, and like IPA's, go for it.

Drinking a Southern Tier Choklat stout. Good, but too much like a chocolate drink and not enough like beer. I've had stouts with some chocolate before, but this is more like chocolate with a little stout.

Brown ale out of Montana. I like it.

Yeah, Moose Drool is pretty good.

I'm drinking a Goose Island Oatmeal Stout.

It is good. It's a very popular American style Brown Ale from Big Sky Brewing in Montana. It's one of those "definition of the style" kind of beers, when someone asks what an American Brown is, Moose Drool is used as an example.

I had a Witte the other night and did enjoy it . Enjoyed a Abbey Ale a couple weeks ago and had a Hennepin last summer . I'm catching what the Ommengang Brewery is throwing . How was the Rare Vos ? Three philosophers ?
