What a great game. The Swiss almost pulled it off!

Just a thought, as I'm treated to NBC's extensive figure skating coverage: If you're wearing a shirt open to your solar plexus, you might want to do something about the giant zit on your chest. Just sayin'...

Yeah, she'd lost a little time, but was on pace for gold at the last split.

NBC has such knowledgeable commentators. From the Today Show Olympic recap this morning, referring to the USA win over Canada yesterday:
"It's not the Miracle on Ice. It wasn't for the gold medal."
Um... the Miracle on Ice wasn't a medal match either... :-)

You have to understand. The talking heads you see as "knowledgeable commentators" are professional readers. They just read what the writers and producers provide for them. The writers and producers are pissed off wannabee commentators but aren't photogenic enough to get in front of the camera or they have nervous tics or something. Most of them know very littler about real sports but can tell you everything you want to know about ice dancing. And, since they probably weren't living when the "Miracle on Ice" was actually played, they don't know anything more about it then the can read on Wiki.

But let me tell you how I really feel about "broadcasters"

By the way, I wouldn't call the USA defeat of Canada a miracle but I would rate it right behind the Saints beating the Colts.

USA vs. Switzerland hockey on right now. This looks to be a good game. Back and forth, lots of shooting. Both goalies have been making some awesome saves. :-)

Well, the US went on the offensive after holding the Swiss to only 1 shot on a power play. 0-0 after the 1st, with USA outshooting Switzerland 18-4.

The good news for you guys down south is apparently NBC is shifting the remainder of the hockey coverage to the main NBC network since they got 8.2million viewer on MSNBC for the USA v Canada game on Sunday so hopefully your viewing opportunities will get a bit better. If intriguing to see if that changes is the Swiss manage to pull off a MASSIVE upset today.

They trade power plays with no shots on goal for either team. Still scoreless.

OK, I stand corrected. Neither team has managed a shot on goal with 2 PPs each.

The Swiss just dodged a bullet. Puck off Hiller's shoulder and in, but time expired just before it crossed the line. 0-0 after 2 periods, US leads shots on goal 32-8. Hiller is singlehandedly keeping Switzerland in this game.

Wow, Switzerland bangs one off the post. US takes the puck down, apparently scores, but Kessler gets called for interference in front of the goal. Swiss on a PP. Still 1-0.

Switzerland pulls their goalie and it ends up backfiring. US wins 2-0.
