Smoking a L'Atelier that I picked up today at Tower Cigars in Sacramento. My first but I did ask Mark to reserve me a when his new shipment of the Corona Gordas arrive.

Last night I smoked my last Viaje Satori 2013 because I knew Mark had just received these delectable treats of Xen like therapy.

Varina Farms Breakfast Blend Churchill The construction is not bad - cap a bit untidy, but does not detract from the smoke. Lights well, burned well for about 2/3. Nice flavours - mild - plenty of creamy texture, coffee, nut, nutmeg - grows in flavour through the stick. I'd heard they burn fast, but this stick kept a nice steady pace for well over an hour. It died quite unexpectedly about 2 inches from the end and the re-light was a mistake - hot tarry, unpleasant smoke ensued - probably technical and I should have just chucked it.

Good value for a big cigar with decent flavour.

RP Connecticut Robusto that has been hanging around for about two years and that I found while doing some wineador archaeology.
Oliva V Double Robusto

A Victor Sinclair Series 55 aged 5 years supposedly. A pleasant med-full smoke not sure I'd recommend it.

A beautiful Cohiba Siglo IV, my first official forbidden fruit, not counting Johnny O. A great celebratory stick, both for my bday, and for beginning EMT school!

Cigar Federation have supplied me with some great sticks (with one exception - their own CF stick).

Today was the second in my fiver of Rodrigo La Fortaleza. Apparently a Dominican puro - but it is dark - and this should be a warning - this is a "manly" stick. It started out a little brutish, but quickly settled a bit. Full bodied and powerful in every respect. Lots of pepper (I get black pepper this time) and a serious meatiness. I topped it with a double espresso (Sumatra Bold Organic from our local roaster), and that worked superbly.

It seems this would be a great cigar for a cool autumn evening with a pork rib BBQ and a couple of glasses of straight rye. Failing that perhaps a sherry cask matured single malt (thinking an older Macallan).

Weighing in at over $8 a stick it still seems like decent value in the US. (Notsomuch here if you apply duty and taxes)

Nutcracker reminded me that I've got a few Varina Farms BB in the cooler. Smoking a robusto tonight. Very pleasant, mild bodied smoke.

Had a Palina Maduro 52. Horrible burn and tight draw. Dissapointed

I'm always worried when something has a reputation. I recently bought a box of My Father Le bijou from my Mohawk friends in Ontario, and lit the first one with some trepidation for the first time today.

The cigar is a gorgeous dark maduro (Equador habano). Silky soft, slight oily sheen - wonderful pre-light aroma of old comfy leather chairs and a gentler time. The burn is even until the last 1/3, when it started to canoe a bit. The cigar is generous and creamy, with sweet cinnamon, slight pepper. This has to be one of the nicest NCC's I have smoked. Absolutely delicious.

Yeah, those 1922s are tasty, Neil. I don't think I've had a bad My Father smoke and that includes their short filler ones.
