I just picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig 12 year for my ice fishing trip next month. Never had it before but the price was right at $20 a bottle on sale and i wasnt looking for anything crazy. Whats the verdict on it?

Probably overkill for an ice fishing trip
:-).
Here is a corollary: hot dogs at home taste like a$$. Hot dogs after walking around the fairgrounds with the kids for hours taste like caviar at the Ritz. You could get away with Fighting kawk.
Kidding aside, I really dig Elijah Craig.

Picked up a bigger bottle of Woodford last night, delayed my Angel's Envy purchase. I wanted something I know I like for this weekend.
Last night I tried some more Elijah Craig 12year and I gotta say it has grown on me a bit.

Not technically a bourbon, but hopefully tasty nonetheless:

Bought 4 roses single barrel the other day and love it. Just picked up a bottle of Eagle Rare single barrel to try. Anyone have any comments on the ER?

Anyone know where I might be able to get my hands on a bottle of 2012 Four Roses Small Batch? I picked up a bottle of the Single Barrel but the Small Batch seems to be a bit tougher to come by from retailers that will ship outside of the state anyway.

I'll check at McScrooges in Knoxville for it tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find.

I've tracked it down in Denver and Dallas but neither can ship it to me.

Heads Up!
Remember the "Traitor Jack" backlash when Jack Daniels
lowered the alcohol content of their whiskey a few years ago?
Well, get ready for the "Makers Mock" campaign!
I got an email today from Makers Mark stating that they are
reducing the alcohol percentage from 45% to 42%. I don't
know about you, but I don't put water in my whiskey, and I
will not support a distiller who does it.
As soon as I see 90 proof Makers Mark replaced with 84 proof
stuff, I will begin my boycott. Too many quality bourbons out
there to pay the same price for a watered-down version.
Anyone with me?

Very disappointed to read this. The 90 proof was the reason I purchased Maker's Mark, not the name. For those looking for more information on this, check out this article over at Quartz.

Sucks, because I've been meaning to try Maker's again to see if I liked it. Oh well, plenty more good cheap bourbons out there to try. Here's one under $20 that is outstanding:

OGD BIB, very nice. Thanks to Joel, the bourbon asylum turned me on to this one. Thought this alternative still supports Beam...
