CLE Corojo 2013 (robusto?).
This is a different beast from the Connecticut version I had last week. Started out full bore - a tannic peppery note that reminded me of seared roast beef. There was a rustic harshness to it that in red wine terms reminds one of Tannat - the ubber tannic wine from SW France and Uruguay.
With some patience it settles down about halfway through to a better balanced more flavorful smoke. Clearly a major heft of nicotine.
The after taste is that of dark espresso beans.
I probably didn't do it justice as this is clearly not a morning smoke, and would probably sit better after (or during!) a slightly fatty meal. Perhaps it just needs to age a bit, but I'm no expert on these matters.
I would recommend for seasoned smokers who enjoy a full bodied smoke.

Leccia white.
This is a cigar with a good reputation, and I was keen to try it. I was (just a tad) disappointed. I had used a punch, and in spite of the smaller aperture, the draw was overly easy, like the stick was shy a leaf or two in the roll. The initial inch or so was raw pepper, and even when slowing up in was clearly there even in the latter part of the stick. Tons of grey-white smoke, which tasted like, well, smoke. Pretty one dimensional.
Bit of a let down. Maybe the exception.
Not exciting.
