Hey, Family! I'll Admit I'm A "Newb" When It Comes To Specialty Beers. Tried My First Sierra Nevada Pale Ale And It Was Too "Harsh". Love The Sam Adams Octoberfest, However. Does The Sierra Nevada Have More Barley, Hops, Or What Compared To The Sam Adams? Any Suggestions As To What I Might Like?

Thanks!

Greg

Where? In the Cities or down south by you?
fissure 06:42 AM 10-14-2009
Had my first Bell's Two Hearted Ale last night. Was great with the LGC I was smoking. Even better was it was only $2 a pint:-) Another one to add to the rotation:-)

Had a Hobgoblin's english ale the other night. It was pretty good too!

Got The Poet for tonight along with a Sam Smith's oatmeal stout, and a lion stout.

Ok here we go

I think Sierra Nevada uses more hops or use a stronger tasting hop for the majority of their beers (idk their porter and stout are AMAZING). Now for Sam Adams, if u have ever had a regular SA Boston Lager, (to me) its much hoppier than say a Yuengling or other American lagers.

If you havent looked at this site http://beeradvocate.com/ you really should. They have alot of reviews, info, and anything else you could ask for about beer.

For beers to try. I would go for any Oktoberfest marzen out now. Hefeweizens are really good...um to me porters and stouts arent really hoppy but idk about your tastes.

Im sorry for just rambling or not making any sense.

I LOVE hops :-)
hornitosmonster 11:17 PM 10-16-2009
tonight

I started of with a DFH 90 Min and a Padilla Habanos

Of course the cigar lasted much longer then the beer so I had

A bomber of Lagunitas Lucky 13. Really digging this beer. If you can find it, buy it
!!!...Trust me...

I chased everything down with a Stone IPA

PBR is a good bang for your buck beer. Nothing wrong with it. :-)

right now I'm enjoying Stone IPA as my regular because Costco has cases for $27. But Costco will soon run out so I must tell myself that this is just for a limited time...
