Alot of your flies will cross over from cold to warm water. Also check out the Outdoorsman's Banter thread in the banter section. There are alot of fellow fly fisherman there.
Will do, Zack

Figured this thread needed bumped. Went out today to a stream that was stocked on Monday. Ran into a huge pod of trout.....caught 5 on a brown nymph....I think it was a brown stone nymph. I had a huge one on, but it gave me one leap and then tossed my nymph back at me.

First time out this season for winter steelhead fishing, and I'll be darned if I didn't actually get one. A nice 29" hen that fought like crazy. Four good runs and left the water twice. This is one great Christmas present.

After see a picture of my daughter learning to cast using one of my smaller fly rods, Zack (Kayak Rat) offered to help me out with a rod better suited to her.
It was one of her favorite gifts this year Zack. Thank you! She was able to practice with it a couple of times before she and my wife left for the N.Carolina mountains yesterday, but I managed to leave the camera home both times. She is definitely looking forward to trying it out on some fish next weekend when she gets home.

The rod is a TFO 9 ft 5/6 weight what has smaller grips for smaller hands. I put a Okuma SLV 5/6 larger arbor reel with a 6 weight forward floating line on it for her. I'm impressed with the way this rod casts, and the reel balances it beautifully.
They get back Sat. afternoon/evening and she's already asking me to have the boat hitched up for Sunday morning. Yea baby!
Again, thanks for thinking of us Zack!

No doubt. I'd bump him, but I hit my limit. I'm also hoping to get over to ya'lls neck of the woods one day to fish with him. Maybe next year.

It really feels good, even with the smaller grips and my big hands.
She definately enjoys fishing, it will be fun seeing her handle a long stick!

For the money, I think they are one of the best rods out there. They are not top of the line, but they are not dollar store quality. They dont make you pay for their hours of R&D or name in the price of the rod. Plus customer service is next to none.

I had no idea this thread was buried in here. I'm hoping to get one more day in before the lakes freeze over here. I'm on Thanksgiving break, and it is supposed to hit 50 on Tuesday. If that doesn't happen the only thing I will be contributing for the next 6 months is flies.

This winter I am REALLY hoping to get tied up! I said that last year and thought while Holly was recovering I would have a chance, but negative on that one! We will see!

Thanks for the update Steve. Glad she is getting some time with it. You guys have an open invite in the drift boat if you can ever get up here.
Speaking of tying......been playing with some African Grey Parrot feathers.
