Wow is all I can say. I got an iPod Touch so I could check this out. Very nice app. I am in the beginning stages of putting my collection in. The only thing I have noticed so far is that it would be nice to have a caps lock in the box code and format inputs.

Your wish is my command
:-)
I just submitted the version 1.1 update to the app store (will probably still take a week for Apple to approve it). Here is what it contains:
- A few more cigar brands added (total of 101 new cigars; now up to 1,842). Illusione, Nub, and several others.
- Default to last used Humidor when adding cigars to MyCigars
- Picklists for "acquired from" and "format" fields in MyCigars section
- Default to all CAPS for box code field
- Some code cleanup and optimization
Still working on some cool feature for the next update, but with this update, the data entry should be a bit easier
:-)
There is now also a new support website for Mobile Stogie. Check it out at
www.mobilestogie.com (thanks to my son Jon for the website building).

Downloaded my copy a couple of days back, now to begin the task of updating my inventory.

The default to the last humidor would have been my only comment. Glad to see that addition.

When is the update available? Don't see it yet. Thanks again for the showmanship

As I mentioned above, it seems to take Apple about 7 days to approve an app submission, but I have no experience on app "updates". One would hope it would go faster, but we'll see.

I'm new to the iPhone, do updates override data? I'd hate to lose all of the work I've put into my mobile stogie, but love the changes you've made...

Ken,
Check out one of your reviews on the application.
I too am creative.
I used "CigarAsylumMember".
Might as well plug this site while at it.
:-):-):-)
I noted one person knocked you down from five stars and seems it was accidental. They appear to have forgotten to check off the stars form the default setting of one. Shame but hopefully there will be enough 5's to compensate.

The update will not overwrite your data. This update includes a framework for checking your database version, and only updating reference data that I've added in the new version. It will not touch the "My Cigars" part of the database.

So I synced my phone with my computer but Mobile Stogie isn't showing up in my apps list on itunes?

Try right clicking on the iPod icon in iTunes and selecting transfer purchased items. If that doesn't work, make sure you have the option checked to sync apps under the application tab.

Well just bumped it with a 5 star. I've been enjoying playing around with this app.

FYI ... version 1.1 was posted to the app store last night. It should notify you automatically of the free upgrade.
This update was somewhat minor, adding another 101 cigars to the database and a few user interface improvements. Mostly, it helped my restructure some code to facilitate future improvements, and to test the update process. Seems like everything is working fine with the process, so I recommend that you update to version 1.1.
Now working on some cool features for a version 1.5 or 2.0 upgrade. Many users have emailed me suggestions, so I have plenty of ideas to implement
:-)

Ken, What about a tab for accessories? Not really needed but could be cool?
I still think there needs to be something for the app to pick up the signal from my wireless transmitter in humidor so I can check humidity/temp at all times! lol

I'm lazy. I've tried a lot of other apps - but they all required to much user info in addition to having to run to the computer. That's all changed now!
Downloaded - played with - rated and wrote a review!
Don't know how much of personal inventory I will add due to the amount that I smoke daily - I really just want a database to look up smokes in - and this fills the bill perfectly. I may though decide to use it as a "I have this smoke" with out actually keeping track of how many.
No matter though - this is the best app, mobile or otherwise that I have tried to date!
Kudos Ken -
:-) :-)

Neither of those are out of the question
:-). The latest code that I'm testing on my iPhone includes a
ring gauge tool that is very accurate. Working now to linking into cigar listings so you could quickly find the cigar you are holding ...
And the new iPhone OS that is coming out in june will provide more external accessory capabilities, so stay tuned
:-)
