Wine, Beer, and Spirits>beer hauls
MikeyC 08:39 AM 02-15-2011
Picked up a 6er of Founders Centenial IPA. I've never had it before and it's not too bad. I also picked up a local brew called Wachusett Larry's IPA. Made by Wachusett brewery which is known for their Blueberry beer (barf!). I hear this Imperial IPA is pretty good though.

I have many times. It is a very good stout but not nearly as big a stout as the name might suggest.

yes many times, it's actually the first stout i had outside of guiness a year or two ago and I haven't looked back. it's very easy to get a hold of up here in MA.

These are my next 3 to pick up (maybe next week): Goose Island Bourbon County 2009, Hoppin Frog BORIS, and The Lost Abbey Serpent Stout.

Great choices, when I was in Worcester last fall I was surprised by how much GIBCS 2009 I saw on the shelves. I bought one bottle to bring home and enjoyed it. The BORIS is great and the BORIS Barrel Aged is even better but its almost $16 a 22oz here so its a rare treat for me. Matt-n-GA shared his bottle of Serpent Stout with me and it was outstanding

Ya the prices in Boston aren't that great either. Boris is the cheapest of the 3 at $11 :-)

Its about the same here, though I can't get Goose Island. If you haven't tries any of the Southern Tier Blackwater Series (Mokah, Choklat, Creme Brulee, Oat, Java) they are readily available up there and, imho, fantastic stouts

We've had the Choklat, and Ashtonlady brought us a Creme Brulee last time she was over this way. I have to say that the C.B. REALLY smells like c.b. when our open the bottle and take a whiff. It's a quite interesting beer (and good).

I haven't tried any of those.....I will keep my eye out for them. Btw, what type of glasses do you guys use for stouts? I currently use a new castle glass my buddy got from work. See link for picture: http://www.thebeerspot.com/blogs/0002001259

I like that one. I use wide, snifter type glasses the majority of the time but sometimes I just use a pint glass. Every now and then I drink from the glass they come in :-)
