Hello all,
New to the forum and it looks as if the most important things in life are here, beer, spirits, and cigars.
Bengalman, I grew up in Cincinnati, miss it.
Here in North Carolina you can make 200 gallons of "spirits" a year. I was wondering if there are any makers here that can give me some information on distilling.
Thanks
Michael

Opened a bottle of Michter's Straight Rye the other night. I would be happy to have to drink this all the time, great stuff

Had a pour of Knob Creek last night while smoking an '08 Mag 46. Went together very nicely.
:-)
I need to make a run to the store...my bourbon and scotch selection has mysteriously shrunk!

Made my first bourbon purchase yesterday Elijah Craig 18 year old Single Barrel along with a Partagas Series P No. 2. Great bourbon, great smoke.

Try the EC 12 yr. Most I have talked with like the 12 better than the 18 and its cheaper...win-win. Either way, you have a great pairing there bro, enjoy.

Really? I actually prefer EC 18 by a wide margin. Either way, they are both good.

I've had both bottles and they are very different. The 18 is right on the edge - as oaky as a bourbon can get without going too far. The 12 is much more...rounded. Some decent complexity on the 12 and more balance.

Buffalo Trace just started producing half gallons to my knowledge. That or they are new to GA.
:-)

Picked these up last night. Bang for the buck, Prichards Double Barreled is pretty darn good. My only negative is that the finish is a bit tart.

They half gallons are new to Georgia. BT and the distributor just recently inked a deal that gives Georgia complete coverage of all the BT production line, including the White Dog Mash 1, which is amazing. If you see it, buy it. It's in 375 ml bottles and is fresh from the still, has an amazing nose and a corn sweetness that is one of a kind.

:-) I concour on the Prichards
One day I will buy some Pappy's, one day
:-)
On a side note had a pour of Elijah Craig 12 yo at a bar the other night, and it was 8 bucks!? I realized when I got the bill I should have forked over the few extra bucks for the 18 yo. Definitely worth it IMO

I really like the 12 too. Can't beat $20 for a fifth. I've never had the 18, however.

Well, I went to pick up some beer for the weekend....but ended up with these.... 50% bourbon is better than no bourbon for a pic in the bourbon thread....

What shop do you go to ? I frequent Minks in Marietta, and he also gave me a tasting of it, that's what made me buy it, it's amazing.
