No more like the Liverpool soccer team John Henry owns.
I understand an MLB team is like chump change compared to a big time soccer team.

We raised the white flag today... waiting for them to call me this weekend... cause we got no pitchers left!

BoSox payroll (before today's dump) = $154.5 million.
Liverpool F.C. payroll (dollar equivalent) = $222.85 million.
Fights in the stands = about the same.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lester come back, obviously, but you never know, for now we get a heavy hitting outfielder with one of the stronger arms in the league, add him to J. B. Jr. who has an amazing arm and outfield speed himself and Shane on the other side and all of a sudden we have a decent outfield. We also ended up with the compensation draft pic and a couple decent young players.
There is too much young homegrown talent on these team not to see how bright the future is. We were suppose to suck last year, if you recall, and ended up winning the whole thing, I'll take it.
Also makes me smile when the MFY fans come in to troll.

Statement based solely on generic stereotype.
Absolutely no basis in fact. I watch LFC religiously and can't remember a fight in the stands.

We do have a lot of young talent...I been going to McCoy watching the Paw Sox.
What a great place two can get in cheaper then the price of a beer and a dog at Fenway.
Great seats, good grub, very family friendly with lots of stuff going on.

Not sure why Sox fan's are upset?
Except for the Tigers, they were the big winners at the deadline.
There is a ZERO percent chance of Lester resigning with Oakland.
Now they'll just have to pay him if they want him back.
On the other side they absolutely fleeced the Cards yesterday!
Allan Craig is a steal!
Craig is one of the most clutch players in the game.
As a righty bat, playing in Fenway, him hitting 20-25 HR with 100 RBI's is more than a possibility, and Joe Kelly is a good, young, back of the rotation guy.
Throw in Cespedes and some of the thunder goes back into the SOX lineup.

despite his Yankees leanings, I gotta agree with Dom...this was all about next season, and beyond...gotta figure the Sox will be big players in the winter for rotation help...and I see Lester back in 20015...

If the Sox wanted Lester they would have signed him? I say zero to no chance he is back for a lot more then they could have gotten him for?
John Henry has said he does not want to sign any long term deals for pitchers over 30.

I think the Sox fans' reaction is more about the emotion of saying goodbye to so many from last year's team, and particularly Lester, who grew up as a player here.
But I'm inclined to agree with the birthday boy, and I hope he's right.
