I know this is an older post - just curious how the 307 is doing for you. I also have a 307 and love that pipe! Have to be careful with it though because it is such a large bowl and open draw that you can easily smoke it too aggressively. Gotta love those P-Lips!

You probably figured this out by now - Virginias age the best of the various pipe tobacco types and do so gracefully and smoothly. A nicely aged Virginia of 7-10 years likely has no bite at all and should be smooth and creamy with superb flavors!
:-) Look at Wessex Brigade for a high quality sleeper that is second to none in quality. Put it away and forget it for about 5 years or so.

I like the 307 well enough, but I don't really care for the p-lip actually. I think I may try to get a regular stem for it.
Neither of my petersons smoke anywhere near as well as my Savinelli does though. Aside from the draft hole being kinda high off the bottom, I don't really know why this would be?
