I got my first about 12 years ago and I'm getting ready to get my second. I want to get the footprints of my newborn baby girl tattooed. I just can't decide on a location.

Not knowing where the first one is, how about over your heart?

That's where I'd get tattoos for my kids, if I had any. Somewhere close to the heart. Probably on one of my pecs. I don't know if I'd like a sternum tattoo, but something a little off-center like the chest would be my first pick of locations for that type of tattoo.

Actually I haven't collected comics in about 10 years so there are alot of the newer storylines I haven't read. I own about 8,000 comics. I haven't seen this storyline yet so I would say I really can't comment on it.

Cool. It is a brand new story that is kinda confusing (Grant Morrison was the writer). I am going to re-read it soon!

i made the mistake of not using sun protection on mine in my late teens/early twenties. over the past 20 years, they have faded, but not as bad as they seem to be with my camera phone.

Well, no flogging here, but I have tats from the '80s....and they STILL look good.
As Dustin pointed out, it's like a car, you HAVE to take care of them. You don't, well, it's your own damn fault if they look like ^%$%.
I have 6....the latest one is about 8 years old...been kinda busy since 2001

Can't believe I haven't posted mine yet. Well, I have 4 so far. #5 will be coming on Apr. 9th (it will be the Serbian Coat of Arms, in tribute to my mom).
For me as someone else stated, my ink represent checkpoints in my life. Things that are important to me, and significant times. I think that as long as the ink has some sort of meaning to you, then go for it, but you do have to think it through before you do it. They aren't cheap, and it's even more expensive to get them removed. FInd a quality artist...key work ARTIST. You see a lot more people who have some sort of art background doing tattoos, and I feel that it has really improved the quality of the pieces I see people getting.
That being said, here are mine...

My 2 on my arm, that I'm planning on turning into a half sleeve (at least).

Obviously, it's 3 snakes intertwined. LOL I wish I could say it's an original design, but it was taken from the logo of some guys I know who breed snakes up in Washington. I had the artist add the shading and the green. For me, it represents the interconnection of facets of my life...myself, my family, and my work.
Each one of my tatts has a specific meaning to me. The transformation of the 2 on my arm into a half sleeve will have meaning, too...a rebirth, making the old new again, and I want to include a green tree python in it.
My next one will have the most meaning of all of them for me. It's going to be the Serbian coat of Arms, as a memorial to my mother. She came here from there alone when she was 16, and didn't speak any English when she got here. She passed away April 17, 2007. Her birthday would have been this past Monday, so these few weeks will always be a bit rough on me, and I am glad that I'm getting my memorial to her within that time period.

Best way to remember Mom, IMO. I did a similar tribute to my mom and, as corny as it sounds, it always makes me smile when I think of her. Thoughts and prayers to you in this difficult time (it always is hard no matter how many years since they are no longer there reminding you to eat, sit up straight, etc.)
