Sports>Official SEC Football Thread 2009

Congratulations Alabama! Great win and great game. Almost as good as the Saints whipping the Patriots the other night.
All Hail the great and wonderful Saban.
A lot of people may hate him, but he is a great coach.
Well, GGainey, it got alot worse later, but I couldn't edit after 15 mins. I was too busy trying
to keep in mind that it was a SEC thread, not a religion thread. If you like, I could PM you my
thoughts on the big three in the downfall of the US: Political Correctness,
grave overuse of credit,
and the lack of tolerance by the religious.

Dear SEC, please keep Les Miles away from the Texas sidelines, I think he tried to manage our clock at the end of the game last night.
Thanks,
Signed - Longhorn Nation
PS - Congrats to Bama, this is the MNC game I've wanted to see for 2 years now

Brings Back Memories Of The Old Rivalry Between "The Bear" & Texas. I Have Mixed Emotions On This One. I'm A Texas Alum, But Both My Kids Went To BAMA & I Live There. I Think Texas Has An Unblemished, Perfect Record Against BAMA In Championship Games. Think I'll Have To Go With BAMA On This One, Since Texas Won The National Championship More Recently!
:-)
Thankfully, we were all treated to a double header preview of the supposed championship game,
and Texas just did not show me that they can beat the Tide. I turned it off mid 2nd and watched
a movie for about 45 mins, turned it back on and the damn score had not changed. I was thinking JEEZus!
And I had to laugh myself, at the end, seeing that clock issue. man that must have sent Bo Pellini
into the stratosphere! It was a fair addition to the clock, but oh, MAN, how does THAT feel, Bo?

and after Bama escaped Tennessee and Texas blew out Mizzou, Bama hadn't shown they can beat Texas
32 days is a long time for two teams to prepare. I expect a good game, or least better clock management
:-)

I Can't Wait! Roll, Tide!
:-)

Do us a favor, Bama, and beat the *%^& out of Texas. Keep it in the SEC. If we're gonna lose it better be to the best d*mn team in the nation!!!

And Hook 'Em! this is my dream matchup, glad it finally happened
if Texas can't win, Bama, PSU, and a small handful of others are cool in my book

Normally I would say, yeah, you got me...no, really, I WOULD.
:-)
But even being a fair-minded individual, I have to say you need to go back to the drawing board and select another example. Year after year, Mizzou makes fans forget that they are really just another run of the mill good football team. The best in any other conference still has trouble with good or middle-level SEC teams. That's not SEC fan bravado, that is statistical and empirical fact. Ask Ohio State.
I think the game will be a good one to watch, but don't expect the 'horns to do much against Alabama. Maybe global warming will bring parity to the NCAA.
:-) All kidding aside, if anyone can do it, I think Texas is best suited. I still do not see it happening, but you are right.
When I think about 32 days, I mostly think about it from the standpoint of that being intolerably long for ME TO WAIT.
How about today's game, Saints haters??

We'll Try To Play Like We Did Against You, Marty!
:-) I Thought We Had A Good Chance To Win, But I Didn't Expect Us To Play Our Best Game Of The Year. The Gators Will Be Back!
:-)

my point was more than both teams have escaped with wins this season. Bama definitely played their best yesterday, and Texas certainly did not. Here's hoping that that was Bama can't quit match that, and that Texas brings it. Because yes, if both duplicate yesterday, Horns might as well stay home.

Hehe, not to worry for sure. How do you think I FEEL, I am a LSU Tiger fan, lol. But I have always loved the Tide,
since i was a kid. I USED to be a Tulane fan back then, which meant you hated LSU. In reflection, I also forgot that Texas is
not Indiana, or Kansas where you don't get much super football. Texas is as much about football as Florida is. The great players grow like weeds.
Now that I mentioned it, I think Mac Barnes used to COACH Tulane.
But I digress...after a month off, it's a toss up. Texas is fully capable of pulling it off, and BOTH of these so called
great teams from the SEC were beatable EVERY WEEK this year, at least by SEC competition.

Dude you don't have to be a jackass every minute of every day.
:-)
my post had nothing to do with religion, I was referring to CA members and more specifically the ones in this thread.
If you want bash the three things you consider the downfall, go ahead and I could prolly agree with you on some things. In answer to your offer to PM me I'll pass, I already get all of your opinions I can stand.
It seems to me that you spend a lot of time trying to provoke people into an argument, most folks ignore you and after this post I shall go back to doing that myself. I prolly shouldn't have even got drawn in in the first place, but I did. So I M done.
:-)

Congrats to the Alabama team and its fans, they totally outplayed the Gators and deserve the right to play Texas for the National Championship.
:-)
Joey, I will pay up on our bet as soon as I am back on my feel, congrats to you as well.

Oops, didn't see this before I posted my previous response.
Am I that big an asshole, or p@ssy, that I would not come in and give the 'Bama fans their due?
:-) :-) Would have posted yesterday but I watched the game from my hospital bed where I was laid up for 5 days.
Actually, I will still be rooting for the SEC to retain the National Championship, as hard as that may seem to believe.
