You don't have to use the map application. I use Motion-X for voice guided GPS. Works great. I'm sure they'll fix the bugs at some point for the map given the bad publicity thus far.

Agreed. I used Waze on iOS5 and still use it on iOS6. Rumor is that google has already submitted the Google Maps app and is waiting on approval if Google Maps is your cup of tea.
