Just a small batch of Tanzania Washed Ruvuma 15+ from Burman's Coffee.

Have a pound of this and about 6 other kinds.

I did a batch of Costa Rican the other day. Barely made it to first crack before the timer ended. Thought I wouldn't have a drinkable batch. Turns out I was wrong. This is the lightest roast I've done so far, but really enjoying it.

What kind of roaster you use Bob?

Behmor 1600. Love the unit, but you have to make sure you pick a roast setup that gives you enough time to get where you want. I did 13.3oz on a 1lb setting and still ran out of time. The unit will only allow you to add so much extra.

I do my roasting batches in 8 oz increments. I do that because not every thing I roast do I want roasted light :-)

I've been doing 1lb batches, but with a 2 min pre warmup. Tried the 13.3oz batch size since I'd read on the Behmor forums of someone doing this, on the 1lb setting and it working well. No warmup. Won't do that again. I like having extra time left so I can cut the heat when I want. If there was one change I'd like on the Behmor, it would be a way to let it run as long as you want.

I always roast 12 oz at a time and set for 1# and add the extra time up front. Unless the temp in my garage is rather cool, I never get to that 1:00 mark swearing whether I'm going to hit 2nd crack.

I always use more time too.
Roast 1/4 lb on 1/2 lb setting and anything larger than 6oz. on the 1 lb setting. I just set a timer for about 2-3 minutes before I know when 1st crack will start and then I just sit there and watch (listen) for when I want to stop it.
I never roast larger than 12oz even with a pre-heat. I like having pleanty of time to let it go if it needs it.
I never roast to French. Full City+ is my limit. Most of the time its around Full City.

Just bought a SR500 roaster and 5lbs of Jam Blend, :-) imo, much better bang for the buck than the Blu Mtn. which is not what it used to be.:-)

I roasted up a pound of China Organic ManZhog Tian today.

I have never ever had a "Chinese" bean before, I hope it is OK at least. Being they were from Sweet Maria's I have sort of high hopes I may like it :-)

UPDATE on the China Organic ManZhog Tian coffee. It really is a pretty decent coffee bean. I would buy it again.

Roasted a pound of Brazil Mogiana today. Took it well into 2nd crack. A bit too far than I planned. Just have to see how it turned out this weekend. Tried a couple beans whole and they don't taste too bad.
