Not around other people, but I don't blow traditional rings either. What I do is make the oh face, then tap my cheek with my index fingr. Each time you tap it a ring the size of a quarter will come out. Pretty neat once you get good at it

I cannot, but I understand that it takes a great deal of tongue dexterity. How does one go about achieving that amount of tongue skillz?

voted no since it never occurred to me until now. But I'm certainly going to give it a try this weekend!

Never tried the tapping technique.
The best way I can describe how to do it is just say the letter "O" a bunch of times and make your mouth into the shape of when you say "O" and blow some air out. Basically, pucker up your lips pretty tightly, but leave a small hole for the smoke to escape.
As far as the double rings go, that's beyond me.

I tried to blow a smoke ring once and inhaled the smoke and almost vomited.

Only accidently. I never seem to remember how I did it either.

Used to be able to, back when I smoked cigarettes and pipes years ago. Apparently, I have lost the ability...

I used to do this all the time when I smoked cigarettes, but not so much anymore. Probably because I'm usually smoking outside.
Funny story:
Way back, when I smoked only cigs, I was showing off to my little neice, blowing smoke rings. She was maybe 9 or 10 years old. She was really impressed. Then she asked me "can you make triangles too?"

The same way you would blow a single, seriously.

To me if I can't get a good ring then the cigar is drawing too tight.

Nope, but not for lack of trying.

Fairly easy for me, a favorite uncle of mine who taught me how to smoke cigars, pipes, and chew tobacco at the age of 14, (me not him). It's just a combination of the "O" and the tongue for me. To impress the kids when they are outside blowing bubbles, I'll take a good draw and put the smoke in the bubble and watch it puff out when the bubble bursts.
